I got an sp30 on 16 June 2004 (that is when it was actually registered on my license)

As it has now been 3 years exacatly a few questions

1> Have been told they no longer count and it will stay on for 4 years but insurance need to be aware for 5 years (correct?)

2> SO... if they no longer count, if tommoroe I get 3 points will I have 6 points on my license or 3 ?

3> When can I apply for them to come off ? is it the beginning of the 4th year ?

0 for totting up purposes, three on your license and three on your insurance.

Do I win a prize?

I always thought insurance companies asking if you had any endorsements in the last 5 years a bit dense. most stuff is physically removed after 4 years, so how the hell is it relevant.

Also if I had a drink drive conviction (they last for a lot longer I think) thats over 5 years old im clear to not declare it to insurance?

Until they ask to see your licence.

Speeding convictions etc are declarable for 5 years under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
