Scottish Local Primary in the middle of knowhere, I live next door to.
Last week I witnessed a car go into the grounds in the evening, not only did it go into the grounds, but crossed a kerb and drove over the football pitch to a quiet, largely out of sight corner. Occupants (5 guys) did get out and kicked a football about. I went down a few hours later to check if football pitch damaged to find wheel marks, lots of litter & a makeshift bong (sp?) Called local police to report the "use" of the pitch and give then car reg no. I then collected all the rubbish and disposed of it as discussed with the police, so it was not there for the school kids in the morning.

Same car back last night, so I called police (local station 4 miles away), they appeared within 10 min's which I was very impressed with. However I was not so impressed with the call I got after they left. "Police have visited the site and the youths are doing no harm"
I didn't expect them to get arrested and would myself turn a blind eye to the odd thing now an again, but ffs they could have asked them to shift their car off the pitch, out of the grounds and into the car park if they really wanted to stay & have a kick about!

The cops probably did move the youths on, the telephonist was probably just trying to play down any fears that many members of the general public have with youths loitering near to their house.

Nope, I watched the police car leave and the youths and their car remained on the football pitch.

Indeed it does! Local HeadMistress quite annoyed too when she was told this morning as she knows she'd left the school gates closed last night (albeit not locked) because of my previous report to her.

Write to your MP complaining about the damage and lack of action by police. Thigs will change.

I am obviously emotionally involved with this one, it being on my doorstep. I pitched it on here to see if others felt my dis-satisfaction was justified or whether or not it was just one of those things I should let go. (I appreciate different folk have different opinions)

So far I have suggested to the local council they fit and use a lock on the gate to prevent vehicles entering (the teachers and school staff park outside on the road so it wouldn't really bother them)
I have a fair idea that my local councillor will pursue it further (given she is mother and agrees with me!)

At the end of the day im sure most folk would prefer to have youths loitering in quiet, largely out of sight corner than on their doorstep.

Move them from there and they just move to another place

I suppose the cops could have done the driver with driving elsewhere than a road, but if the are reasonable enough individuals and haven't been littering or taking drugs, and they're of out the road and playing football on a football pitch, i don't see to much of a problem.

I know you found a bong and litter, but did it belong to them?

Just my personal opinion

I agree with Terzo123.

Prefer them on the football pitch than parked on a street corner looking suspicious.
Also it's better than having them drive up and down your road with loud music and noisy exhaust.

At the end of the day, or indeed at any time of the day, most people would prefer youths not to be loitering anywhere. Still, with no youth clubs, no football/cricket allowed in quiet cul-de-sacs, easy access to drink, drugs, what do you expect? "It weren't like tha' in my day" - Streaky
