FIO:

The Police Complaints Commission is to investigate "very serious" allegations about misuse of North Wales Police computers

An officer from the North Wales Police has been arrested following an allegation of improper use of the force's computer system.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is managing the investigation, it was confirmed on 19 June 2007. Meanwhile the officer has been released on police bail and is suspended from duty while the investigation is in progress.

Tom Davies, IPCC commissioner, said: "Very serious allegations have been made against a serving officer.

"I have decided the investigation needs independent oversight, and will be managed on my behalf by an IPCC investigator".

The IPCC confirmed that the computer system involved was the North Wales force's own intelligence system, and not the Police National Computer. It was unable to give any further details of the case because of potential legal proceedings, however.

What on earth has this to do with Brunstrom?
Sadly this can happen in any force.
And has been happening since before intell was on computers.
Doesn't excuse it but lets keep some perspective!

Just easier when the Collator's card files are at the end of a bit of wire and you don't have to burgle his office, or bribe him with a large scotch smile [not that that ever happened! wink] - Streaky

Possibly none. But dont you think the ethos of a Force is affected by the personality and actions of CC?

You can't blame it on the CC however hard you try.
Well the buck stops somewhere. He is responsible for ensuring that there are mechanisms in place to control and monitor abuse of the IT systems. And he does have form, remember all those letters sent out illegally?
But I agree, its difficult to pin this one on him.

There are monitoring systems, that is presumably how this came to light!

If not, they are how it will be proved.

Quite.
I can remember a civilian who was going out with a thief and she kept destroying all the (paper) records on him. She was caught screwing cars with him one night and his cards were in her handbag laugh

As I said probably nothing (just wishful thinking). However 'a fish rots from its head first' and a single bad apple can contaminate a barrel. So, for me and I expect many others, anyone working in the N Wales Police are tainted by association. (very unfair, I know).

Considering the way that when the BiB turn up to "investigate" internet fraud, the guy usually has no idea what to do,.. plus that Judge who needed to hold up a case to have someone explain what a 'website' and a 'blog' meant,.. I'm surprised anyone actually noticed!
Maybe he just managed to log in to the database and they couldn't figure out how he did it?
I'm not saying that the BiB are behind the times,.. biggrin

Are you saying Brunstrom has been misusing computers?
If you are not, I fail to see the relevance really.
