D Day is a term used to donate the day upon which a significant event will happen(usually in war) VE Day was "Victory in Europe Day" - Nothing wrong with the original post, just a lot of people's knowledge of WWII and generic military terms...

Cen, please continue...

For "donate", read "denote". "Close, but no cigar" as they used to say.getmecoat

yes, lets focus on one spelling mistake, rather than the factual innacuracies of several peoples posts...

You mean the judgment for O’Halloran and Francis v. the United Kingdom on Friday at 0930 hours?
Shirley you mean 08.30?

Or two spelling mistakes (or typographical errors) in one word; or the lack of two apostrophes and a capital letter; or an ellipsis that isn't or a full-stop that stuttered wink - Streaky

Seems perfect to me - Friday is D-Day for the scamerati, same as it was for the hun in 1944...

Friday morning, the landing craft will be disgorging our lawyers to fight the evil scamera emplacements...

Er, the lawyers disgorged from the LCTs on 27 September 2006 - that was "D-Day".

What we're waiting for is for the umpires to decide which side massacred fewer of the wounded - that will be either Victory for UK Drivers Day (VUKD Day) ... and if O'Halloran and Francis win, the scameras will be VUKD wink ; or VS172 Dayfrown .

Idris Francis was told that he would be notified 30 days before the judgement was announced, and on or about 6 June he said "I am optimistic ..." - which sounds encouraging if indeed they did notify him as to the decision.

one of the applicants, and XXXX XXXX of Safe Speed will hold a press conference from X.XX XX at the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, XXXXXXXXXX, XXXXXX. In advance of the announcement of the verdict, barrister XXXXXX XXXXXXX will speak about the legal issues and XXXX XXXX and XXXXX XXXX will present evidence to show how the abject failure of speed camera policy has been systematically misrepresented by the authorities but also how the DfT has all but ignored for more than four years a far more cost effective alternative to cameras that does not involve persecuting drivers or breaching fundamental rights.

Shouldn't that be XXXX XXXXX of Safe Speed?

Either way, too many details... smile

Now the biggest question is:

my suspicious mind said:
"What will the Government spin and bluster to the political agenda/public consciousness on Friday?"
My betting is a new even more damaging report from the IPCC on the links between speeding cars and climate change, a new terrorist cell arrested in <insert midlands muslim enclave here>, or Tony Blair will be knighted suddenly....

However, it depends on 'which' side the translation is.

Although on our side the day will be known as VUKD Day, I am sure in the SCPs it will be know as FUKD Day!
