Worth mentioning that the Blue volve (s40, I beleive) is probably the only Volvo which DOESNT have its lights on all the time whillst driving...

I noticed this a short while ago and backed off. Thankfully...it was them!

They are cheeky bstids mind you that seems quite a good tip for spotting them!

They will prob read this site and start driving around with them on now...

Cant believe a TVR was actually working for long enough to build up the speed to get done anyway.........

Wrong about the S40 mate. Its supposed to have its lights on all the time.
Its a VOLVO requirement to ensure that NO dealer enables them to be switched off, due to it being a safety feature, eg, high vis and all that.
Any dealer attepting to do this just for the cops could find themselves in serious shat from Volvo, as it has to be done via the volvo dedicated diagnostic terminal known as VADIS.
I actually had this one thrown at me by a customer as he wanted the lights on his S40 disabled to be manual switched.
After consultation it was deemed to be impossible due to a possible franchise removal for the garage concerned.

I thought the BiB used their own garage's, but stuck to the manufacturers servicing on some .
They certainly do in South Hants, on a normal industrial estate, which can come in handy if you want to check out the plain cars around your stretch of motorway .

Thats strange re the Volvo lights - our other car is a C70 T5, it has a small switch near the lights enabling 'always on' with ignition or manual on/off setting...and this is explained clearly in the owners manual....so I just turn them on when needed.

True Deltaf, but don't forget police spec cars are not the same as other motors (or they weren't last time I looked ), they can spec them and ask Volvo to supply like that.

How come our 2001 Volvo C70 T5 has a small switch next to the headlight switch enabling always on with ignition or manual on/off modes for the lights ? And its detailed in the cars manual on what/how to do it? Maybe its just certain models of Volvos?

Possible theyve changed them since i worked on them (has been 3 years!)
Never noticed that switch before on C70's. Maybe im blind, or the Matrix is malfunctioning!!!

Yep - I think they must have changed them to give people the option ...ive seen a few other Volvos without their lights on too
