If a judge makes a ruling based upon a mistake by the judge, in this case getting a capital amount to be split between two people in a divorce case completely wrong, even though the documentation shows accurately the correct amount, what happens?
The ruling is impossible to carry out, the numbers are just wrong. Is an appeal required or is there another mechanism?

I know if it is a criminal case you would certainly be able to appeal on such a material error in procedure.

I cannot see how anyone 'lower' could overturn the decision apart from an appeal in this instance.
