Another not me but a mate thread I'm afraid (I always try to be good in a 30!).

My mate has just received a summons for 48 in a 30, nabbing was done by a Gatso. Just wondering what he can expect from the courts. He is a very respectable international business man (originally from Denmark, but speaks considerably better English than most of the oiks round here). Hoping for 3 points and a bit of a fine.

Why is it going to Court ?

Is he being conservative with the speed?

Did he upset the reporting Officer?

ACPO Guiidlines on prosecution in a 30 limit generally follow:

30 -34 mph Behave yourself
35 - 49 mph Fixed Penalty
50 mph upwards - Court

Attracts Max £1000 fine, 3 -6 points, discretionary disqualification.

No reporting officer, got done by a Gatso. As far as I know it's a summons for 48, but I've been getting the info second hand. I'll probably see him tonight so I'll have a look at the letter then.

Edited to add, has any got a photo of a NIP and/or a court summons. I'm a good boy so I've never seen one laugh
