I have had a quicky searchy. I cannot find any references to stories seen in Waily & Sexpress today.

A small paragraph in the "Sexpress" tell me that if I drive with a wheel in a cycle lane ( that peppermint thing which 11,000 cyclist petition against & have removed as "MUST DO" from revised Highway Code rolleyes - then they fine me £120 for this und for a slight protrusion into ASL box rolleyes

But.. if not a MUST for cyclists.. scratchchin - why this a nono for drivers. What if you have to move left to avoid a head on due to narrow carriageway caused by this?

ranting I have Ambleside crassest stupidity in mind here. It really suicidal engineering ranting

The Waily tell me that they plan to make GPS speed scam detect illegal - this include RA/origin b2 laser features apparently per the Waily. In force by early 2008 per the Waily today rolleyes

Er.. what ist point? I can have a Sat Nav which give me the information. The data bases include popular mobile sites too wink Just like the normal useful gadgets.

I can find timetables from local press.. even in France/Italy/Switzerland/Germany/Belgium.

I can find locations on web

I can find locations in any road map I buy these days too.

It seem very silly to find someone with POINTS for having an RA etc which alert to more than just a Gatso. It a useful speedo right in line of vision. It very accurate record of speed. It keep average speed data too on its base.

It bleep at the real hazards too such as the dangerous junctions/ the school tucked off the main road/ the congestion charge zone proximity...

I think then a spiteful law. I quote some one who quoted a famous philosopher whose name I cannot now recall.

But he said "Nazism in real analysis ist the pleasure of punishing for no real reason other than for vicarious pleasure!"

I thus think that there ist justification for comparison then scratchchin

Wasn't there a news report saying that, specifically in London, the Red Kun...I mean, Ken was looking to set up cameras to enforce this law? I didn't think that his latest moronic idea would apply nationally.

In any case, wouldn't it apply to the solid lines demarking a cycle lane, which - usually - would be fair enough? Also, one is not allowed to park in a cycle lane, which again is fair enough.

One is allowed to cross the broken line of a cycle lane if doing so is "unavoidable". The question would be whether one was presumed to be guilty in the Kun..., I mean, Ken's kangaroo court, and was required to prove his or her innocence, rather than the other way around.

Latest in press report that Kendigestion's nice little earner - pilot scheme which go national.

Presumably once high earning potential established rolleyes

Piece not precise. It could thus mean all cycle lanes.

Kendigestion ones from memory of last visit to that city seemed mostly shared with buses anyway. Bus Lane fines already in place outside London anyway rolleyes (Wacky Racer post that they exist in Oldham & we also know Leeds area fine over this - along with Oxford. As far as we know Manchester itself not doing this - yet. )

So this one ist a new one. rolleyes

But the cyclists don't want these lanes - nor use them. Lot of fuss over proposed change to Highway Code making it a MUST. (They were upset because they thought it lead to loss of compo if any collision (whoever cause) with a car rolleyes

(Evidence in cycling mags/letters to cycling mags & on cycling fora in general. Just 11,000 signatures NATIONALLY apparently got it removed - which beggar belief given 11,000 already sign up NO to congestion charge in Manchester within 5 week of launching petition.)

So one could understand more if cyclists legally required to use these lanes or even inclined to do so.

But I will agree that many - including the solid lined ones - are just a pathetic joke or an affront to intelligence ranting

Which make fining a motorist or motorcycle for breaching the line sound just a bit silly.

But they also want to fine driver if they stop within ASL or have wheel over the first line as if you go through red light rolleyes per cams as I understand those work rolleyes . Sometime in heavy traffic - light change so you stop. You could be in the ASL box just as this occur or even turning right. rolleyes

It such a nice little earner though. It has nothing to do with safety as last time I went to London - cyclists were weaving along the pavements & roads - taking no notice of red lights anyway! rolleyes

The other nice little earner they bring in. It also warrnant its own thread too perhaps.

They plan to get rid of traffic wardens"

Not really! laugh
But before you partywhistlebouncejester

censoredcensored

ranting

They are planning to replace them with a Gatso type camera und send you your fine 14 days later. It also include having wheel a smidgeon out of parking bay per the blurb in the Waily. rolleyes

RAC/AA claim it real dumb stupidity.

ABD say more war on Joe Average Law Abider who happen to drive car (most of population then rolleyes)

How this promote good working relationship between public und anyone perceived to be in authority ist another question. Worms do turn. Honecker found that out once. Even armed soldiers could not stop it as all had had enough. In fact ..they joined in! wink I think the average rank/file police would too in a big revolt which protect their job of police by mutual consent for peace/harmony und locking up the dangerous wink

They won't be able to ban GPS. My GPS is an Orange M700 phone running Windows. GPS built in - I can close the application in a flash and even delete the software before a copper reaches the car!

I think I'll write to my MP and suggest that Motorists simply pay a £60 Owning a Car Fine, which then negates the need for all these petty offences being persecuted like you are set to destroy central London.

I already pay £600 a year in 'car owning tax', thankyou very much: I'd rather not volunteer for more.

Stasi/Nazi? They took away "responsibility for one's actions" rolleyes

At the Nuremberg trials - they all claimed "they were just following orders".

Only the courts of 1946/7 did not accept this to be an excuse. A person accept responsibility for his/her deeds after all rolleyes

How this equate to speed cam silliness? We may have to accelerate upward to get out of a tricksy situation at times. This apply to being on foot (running out of way wink) - being on bicycle ( applying more pedalo cadence to speed bike out of conflict wink) - being in car - overtaking moron in caravan who decide to speed up (illegally rolleyes) to prevent your return to L1 with a courtesy space per COAST value ranting

Cams there for one reason .. Schadenfreude with an eye on the Revenue Raising rolleyes

How else can you see it. Scams where no danger exist in reality. Where accident occur - I see NO scams per "so-called guideline" rolleyes No accident occur at Ings through "speed". Primary cause - lack of sleep.. heart failure.

So they fail to "listen to body" rolleyes

Moral = LISTEN to you body. It your TEMPLE. What it tell you MEAN something. If body cannot cope - brain malfunction badly. rolleyes

It still responsible behaviour to save lives/promote safety at all times wink This mean listening to body und accepting its weaknesses - und giving it the rest it need urgently wink

It off topic - should be "where can I find good grub abroad over a pie und pint" - upstairswink

You must be going to wrong restaurants then winkhehe

There a really, truly marvellous place in Munich which do meat dishes in variety of way from "plain blue rare to medium" with onion gravy lick to one in richest herby sauces (infused with their finest beer lick)

I can also recommend three restaurant in Leipzig which were "above average under Stasis - the gravy was the "right colour" anyway back then eek) - but since then I vist this extremely pleasant city again to find these restaurants have truly blossomed to absolute excellence to which flash Paris restaurant would struggle to hold a candle lick (They cheaper too! wink)

But German restaurants in general serve up standard tasty meaty fayre - they do not do big trade in lentil burgers despite a penchant for "green politics" wink
