104.9mph on the M11. Bugger
Discussion
Got caught today at 104.9mph average M11 southbound just after M25 merge. I was in a rush to try and catch the end of the grand prix after visiting the Auto Italia show, but thats really not a very good excuse is it?
Anyway, it was a clear dry stretch, BiB made it clear he knew I'd gone faster, emphasising the 'average' part of the deal - what's my likely punishment? I'm guessing a short ban + fine. Ouch. First time caught speeding, been driving 10 years now. Arse.
Incidentally, it was an unmarked dark blue M reg Mondeo piloted by one BiB measuring using Truvello 5000 I think, either way timed over 2 miles, maybe it can be argued under 100mph against his timing accuracy?
Normally good at 'making progress' without drawing attention, just didn't spot him was trundling behind an Artic... you live and learn I guess....

Unlucky mate.
I am waiting for a NIP to come in the post anyday now. Just over 90 at the time I think.
I think for over a ton you will be looking at a ban and a fine, no idea how much though. Worst part would be having to have a re test which for you would be doing the theory test for the first time. Also hit your insurance renewal I imagine

Well I recently went to court for 101.3mph average in a 60 limit and got 6pts with no ban, of course they also took £300 revenue from me. So you may be 'lucky' (???) and get just points (and of course the contribution for the 'partnership'
)
BTW recently renewed the bike insurance with now 9pts on licence (3 expired though) and by shopping around I got it for almost £200 less than the renewal (before I told them about the extra 6 pts!) just by going through a different broker - it's even with the same insurance co. so Insurance may not be such a problem - of course maybe they did it cheaper as I'm now more likely to be banned and therefore not driving so less likely to claim
Anyway best of luck
Edited to add; My solicitor told me that the likely punishment based on 'guidelines' for my speed (40mph + over limit) was a ban of up to 56 days, although normally 'discounted' by 30% if plead guilty & sorry etc. but discretion could be used and lower penalty given although with a larger fine than if banned.
It seems I caught the magistrates on a good day - shame the same couldn't have happened with the fascist that caught me

Knew a bloke that got caught doing 111MPH on the M11 in a Cavalier 1.7TD. First thing the plod said when they stopped him was "I didnt think that they went that fast!". Still, he got a two month ban and nearly lost his job....
And yes, they dont go that fast, but if you wind them up a little and have a hill to go down they do....
Cheers,
Paul

UPDATE! I went to court last Tuesday, pleaded guilty, said I was sorry and generally acted very complicit. Anyway, 6points and a nasty fine (£600). At least I still have my licence - you live and learn.
I now set the cruise control to 80mph and dont go over no matter what, so I guess its worked.

Don't let them keep you down, just keep your eyes open ! I got the aame thing, max speed was 120 mph, average 104 mph, 6 points and £450 fine. Made me buy a radar detector and it's saved my license since. Worth every penny. (OK, won't detect a police car but there are so few of them these days . . .
