Scameras.... Truvelo and Gatso.....

Could you get away with a claim of discrimination if a Truvelo camera caught you speeding? If they caught a car driver for speeding what about bikes?!! Surely this is wrong, one rule for cars and one for bikes?

don;t know about that, but a word of warning....


Just spotted a new scamera site on the A19 north, between the two slip-roads at norton.... there was no camera there today, but when i saw the lines on the road i almost siht myself! I am still on that dreaded 2 year probation after getting my lisence....6 points and i have to start again!

But then again, aren't the police trying to catch as many people as possible speeding so it looks like they are cutting down on crime and making more and more money out of us.

But they are also notoriously dim

A lot of bikes dont have plates on the front and Truvelo scameras can only get pics from teh front, surely this is unfair?!!

so take your front plate off.. there are plenty of PHers who've gotten away with that for a fair old while.

So what? What is stopping you from getting a bike? ANY way of irritating the scamera system is a good one.

Im sure you would be pissed if there was a trap that could only catch motorcylces and someone came on here saying "No fair, get them to catch cars as well!"

Do you mean the Norton on the a19 just outside askern near Doncaster if so I didnt see a camer there and my Road angel didnt say there was one there either. oopsie if there is cos I was er going fast there on Sunday.

Rules for the display of number plates are set out in law, briefly these are: -

A number plate must be displayed at the front and rear of motor vehicles (with some exceptions).

Number Plates must be easy to read and meet the British Standard.

Lettering should be black on a white plate at the front and a yellow at the rear.

The background surface should be reflex-reflecting but the characters must not.

There are separate requirements for traditional number plates displayed on vehicles constructed before 1 January 1973.

Lettering and spacing must be of a set size. They must conform to one of the groups shown at:- Number plates fitted after 1 September 2001 or Number plates fitted before 1 September 2001.

The law states that,

You must not alter, rearrange or misrepresent the letters or numbers

Characters must not be moved from one group to the other (e.g. A242 ABC must not be displayed as A242A BC).

Offences may result in any or all of the following:

A fine of up to £1,000

The registration mark may be WITHDRAWN

The vehicle may FAIL the MOT test
