I was approaching a fixed camera yesterday and the BIB's have obviuosly got smart about people slowing down just for the camera. They were measuring speed from a bush about 100m before the camera and displaying your speed on a digi read out at the camera site.

I was moving in a pack of traffic at about 48 in a 40.

Does anyone know if these systems are informational only or should I be expecting a letter soon.

Public humiliation only...

The systems have to be home office approved before they can tax you

The slower you go the more huiliating!

"Look look, that guys only going 38Mph! HAHAHAH"

Good way off seeing whos got the balls to scream through the camera. Would be wikid in a extoic car, cos at the 170+ mark the camera wont go off. So not only do you avoid the gatso, everyone around you gets to watch in awe and see how fast you were going!

In Kettering (Northants) I have seen a similar thing a couple of times but it's a fine giving camera van a couple of hundred metres in front of a fixed camera.

Be greatful it was only a "shaming" camera, Northants "Safety" police have no such morals!

Perhaps then my habit of deliberately speeding up to set them off on the basis that they are "just a sign" is a little risky...
