When applying for insurance, some companies only ask for 'current points'.
I enquired what they meant and they replied 'If the police count the points as valid then so shall we.'
What do you guys reckon?
So what's the 'point' (pardon the pun) of points being on your license between the third and fourth year?

Whilst points are only 'valid' for three years from the date of the offence they can't be removed from your licence until four years from the date of conviction which, if it was a fixed penalty notice would be the date of the said notice (assuming you didn't opt to go to court).
Hope this makes sense

Or change address or name (by marriage, or deed poll? not sure about this second one) or some other legitimate reason for a free replacement licence (can't think of any offhand).
Are you sure? many years ago when I moved house and got a new licence they didn't remove my expired points. When I phoned to ask why I was told "you have to pay to get them removed"I've had 3 points gained in 2000 left on my paper counterpart for over 3 years now since they could have been removed. Can't see the point paying to have something removed that isn't valid anymore and anyone seeing the licence would realise this anyway.
Are you really that bothered that your license shows expired points?? I'm certainly not.

I've got 3 points that expired years ago, and in the mean time I have moved and had licence address corrected, and the points just keep coming back.!!!
What a complete scam, they are printing a new licence, for free because I moved, so why not just update the points at the same time.
Edit... Just had a look, and the fee for removing said points...£22.00. The robbing B
s Bur change of address, or changing ya photo... FREE.
