Ok, just as an experiment, when (and if!) you upholders of the law go out *socially* for a bike or car thrash, and engage in some "spirited" driving.. do you drive to the letter of the law, or do you bend the rules a bit?

Next - would any of you ever have an illegal exhaust on that TVR or Ducati? would you expect to be let off if stopped?

And if your driving/riding buddies speed a bit, do you report them, or warn them in anyway?

Only out of interest you understand.

cheers, Carl

Personally, I dont bend the rules, I cannot afford to get caught either from a self preservation point of view, or one where I will have to give back even more of the cash the CSA allow me to keep hold of

When I am teaching however if the occasion lends itself to a bit of rule bending, then I leave that to the discretion of the person who is driving, as it is their licence and wallet at risk. 30, 40 and 50 limits are rigidly adhered to though!

No as to drive it into a Police staion car park would very quickly attract comment and not the sort that would be wanted. I do know of a certain Traffic PC who has an illegally spaced number plate though, he is well aware of the feelings of everyone else and may get a shock soon from his line manager!

Depends on what they are doing and where (much the same attitude used on anyone when on duty in a marked or unmarked car). They all know the rules and when off duty, they are just as likely to be caught as anyone else. I would also say something to a non constabulary friend if I thought they were out of order.

If I were fuzz, I'd like to think that I'd give it large due to my "inside" knowledge, but in reality, I'd be too damn scared to overstep just in case - to break the rules when you are supposed to be enforcing them would be very embarrassing indeed I should think.
