the people across the road have been robbed for the second time in 2 months no surprise really

Local chap did house to house and handed out an envelope of leaflets, including a mention of smartwater

smartwater web site says that all crims are routinely checked for traces of the stuff and that it leads or has lead to big reductions in crime in certain areas,

is this the case is everyone being brought into the station by the trademan's entrance being scanned for the stuff

just interested in a real life experience rather than advertising blurb before I consider getting some and painting the house with it

All of our custody offices have been, or are being fitted with a smartwater detection system (dark room with ultraviolet lights) through which all prisoners will pass when they're on their way in to the Police Station.

Same round here, the first thing inside the back door is a massive UV light which everyone goes past.

There's no way of avoiding it, it switches on automaticaly when the door opens.

But is the copper actively looking? Or is he just leading the person thru as quick as possible.

don't tar us all with that brush wink

It's basically a unique identification system, synthetic DNA if you like.

It's very clever stuff and has caught quite a few Billy Burglars in my neck of the woods.

The police are extremely supportive of it, there are massive adverts on the back of double decker buses in the city to try and encourage people to Smartwater their stuff.

I'd go for it if I was you, I keep meaning to mark my property and will do at some point soon i'm sure.

I check EVERY prisoner I bring in, from drink drivers to rapists. It takes 20 seconds. Sod all time. The rest of my shift all do too.

I'm not sure if your post is bait for a nice flamewar or not so i'll say no more...

Local Residents Association/Neighbourhood watch got kits and applied it - with signs - breakins went down through the floor - only some have it - but can the tea leaves tell what houses and what property ?? The won't take the risk. Apply massive propaganda and they look at thieving around here as if Saudi Law applies.

If you get offered Smart Water -GO FOR IT.

Nope, but you guys have a lot to do when dragging someone in, some people might just give it the quick 'oh there is nothing there' look.

Oh yes they do - but with the propaganda on houses being protected and the fact that custody check - can they afford another easily proved crime on their sheet when the mags are waiting ??? ----certainly works round my area a hotbed for crime

Edit --- anything that relieves the pressure on the blokes is a good thing - smartwater does that

I am aware of smart water but the custody suites near me do not check people as a matter of course. Great idea though, will look into it.
