Can these record speeding offences if you're heading towards them?

I lost concentration in a 30 zone and it flashed while I was right it front of it (only once that I saw). There was a car going the other way so it might have been targetting them.

There were no markings on my side of the road. TBH I'm not even sure if I was actually speeding. I'm still getting used to the Impreza so I can't yet hold it on the throttle without checking the gauge quite frequently.

Anybody know for sure?

Cheers
Alan.

Nope, you are OK.

The lack of markings on your side of the road make it impossible to work out your speed - at least not fairly.

Almost certainly flashed the driver who did cross it on other side.

It dint flash you as its illegal to have a forward facing flash hence truvelo which faces you but does not flash and surprise and blind you.

Just on a point of accuracy, front facing Truvelo do flash, only it's with a Magenta filter.

That they do, a horrible and still blinding at night purple light.

There's one just around the corner from my nick which I set off most days, it only seems to catch you if you're in the offside lane though.

Not whilst you're driving, again, we hope.

There is a camera that looks like this one beside a zebra crossing in Bristol. There are no road markings and the crossing is not a press button to cross type.

The question is, what is the camera likely to be set to fire at? If it were excess speed (it's on a 30mph road)then it would require the white paint combe on the road wouldn't it?

I have checked for sensors laid in the road surface but there are none.confused

Lots of gatso's flash in your face, incorrectly...it's not illegal as such, they're just "not allowed to use them for speed detection". Still, it's not like it's a safety thing...

Monitron cameras can be used for speed enforcement, red light enforcement or both. There probably are induction loops but maybe the surface has been replaced since they were installed?

Which one are you talking about (there seem to be 100's in Bristol now)?
