Traffic wardens issuing tickets with bike helmets on
Discussion
Just curious since in London (and no doubt other cities) some traffic wardens ride around on scooters, issuing tickets with their helmets on etc.
The healthier wardens walking around have to be in uniform with cap on to issue a ticket...(so I've been lead to believe)
So if scooter warden is issuing tickets with his helmet on (which isn't the same colour as the walking warden's cap - typically same colour as the borough logo) is this uniform acceptable?
Had a browse of the traffic act, and only mentions what the secretary of state deems valid, but no mention of what is actually valid!
Are scooter wardens (council's ultimately) bending the rules?

Does a Parking Attendant have to wear a hat to issue a penalty charge notice?
No.
The uniform must include an identification number, something to show the officer is a Parking Attendant, and identification of the borough he or she works for. A hat is not a mandatory uniform item – it is optional in law. Foot patrol attendants do wear hats, but officers on motorcycles do not.
