On my way to work yesterday 'slightly' late....and trying to powerslide out of every 1st/2nd gear corner (will do a proper powerslide one day!!) when I catch sight of a figure in a glowing yellow jacket in the distance with what looks a hair dryer in his hand...DOH!!!!

Was advised to pull into the car park near-by, my work car park of all places and we had a chat....turns out I was (allegedly!!) doing 37 in a 30 zone. As I sat there waiting for the £60 fine and pointsm he said, nice car mate but don't take the piss its wet, now clear off!!!!! So if you are the policeman in Hastings yesterday afternoon, cheers!!!!! Not all police are w?£$%^s!!!!!

Being polite, respectful and apologetic is always a good way to tackle it smile

I honestly believe I didn't get points because I jusy held my hands up and was polite with him, it makes sense that if you are arsey with them, then they will be exactly the same back to you.

my dad got points twice doing high 30's in a 30 limit, and hes the politest person ever biggrin

stands to reason though, you wont gain anything by being a dick, the polis is just doing his job... i'm sure he would rather be kicking chavs in the head

Don't know if this is an urban myth but I was told by a guy in work that he could not "have done" me because there needs to be two coppers, or they can't prosecute? surely this is crap?

yeah, its pants.

He is kind of right. There needs to be a guy to see you do it and a witness. In the case of the guy who let you go he had the machine that saw you and himself as a witness, therefore he could have nicked you.

A fully-trained traffic officer can be seen as an expert witness in his own right, therefore needs no witness; they can nick you for traffic offences on their own.

Pull the race card, too, if it's a policeman who's not the same colour (or even shade!) as you.

If it's a woman claim sexual harrasment, and that theres no way she could know how to use the equipment as women are incompetant with technology. You'll get away with it then no problem. smile

If the hair dryer is encased in a white casing ask her if that is why she is able to use it correctly! If not, ask her why yous hould take her seriously... everyone knows the punchline?

I am sure my first 3 points ( a long long time ago just after passing my test ) were much more for being arsey with the BiB than anything about my driving. I learnt from that....
