Good old Lincolnshire Road Safety Pratnership eh, keep deploying the cameras and the scam vans and guess what is happening??

Oh and by the way, they are appearing in places now where there have been no accidents and they have never been before. Is this allowed???

Blimey, are there now so many of them, that they have enough teams to be able to patrol areas where there is no need, and no safety benefit at all, but raise a few quid because it's a likely spot.

If there was no need they would raise no money.

A biker died in our village (Lincolnshire) the other day, found 99% dead in someones front garden.

It was 1.50am and in a 30mph zone, I cannot believe this would have happened at the stated limit.

My definition of need is where people are dying. Like maybe at the location in the post above.

They will raise money where they catch people exceeding the speed limit. People are most likely to exceed the speed limit in places where it's obviously safe (in their opinion) to do so. These are the places where the use of speed cameras is least justified.

Do you think that speed cameras reduce accidents?

only in a minority of cases when they slow people driving like retards - a proper copper & a charge of dangerous/careless driving would be a lot better outcome in my eyes though.

If there was no need for drug dealers they'd make no money either.

Well I'd be very interested to hear your definition of 'need' in relation to this subject.

If there are no safety issues with the road then there is clearly no need in my book, but if scameras are operating in these areas, then the only 'need' is the need to raise money.

According to a piece I read in a paper recently, Britain has the worst stroke survival rates in Europe, so there is clearly a need there, but as we don't make money from them the official attitude is clearly that they can go and get ed. But the piece said that 60,000 people die each year of stroke or stroke related issues. Is that right? 60,000?!!

Surely that can't be right? Surely we haven't ended up with a land full of cameras 'cos there is this absolutely vital 'need' to reduce an already very low figure, whilst 60,000 languish with the worst care that a supposedly civilised nation can get away with?

Cameras will only slow people down for a 25 yard stretch of road, that's all, nothing else. If you pass one you didn't see it will not slow you down, if you get a NIP through the post it won't slow you down. The idea of hiding them behind foliage or other road furniture is to make you think they could be anywhere thus making you err on the side of caution, but human nature doesn't work that way so you carry on regardless.
The only truly effective ones are SPECS but even they allow you to drive as fast as you like if you can find a way of averaging your trip for that section of road

Sorry to hear that and my condolences, but doesnt change what we see every summer on roads like the A151 etc I have nearly taken about a dozen out myself in the last five years overtaking on blind crests passing in a dip and three abreast YES three abreast on a sweeping curve. We have lots of Agro monsters on the roads out here now and riding on certain lincs roads like a participant in the TT WILL get you killed out here.

Add that to the high Chav content who think they are auditioning for the WRC and it is not a pretty mix.

Great roads wondeful to ride /drive just treat with massive respect.

Cheers

Tom
I agree completely, far too many bikers don't help themselves, on the other hand I see far more courteous bikers than I do car drivers.

I had a bike for a while - and the only hairy moments I had was with other bikers.

Some car drivers can be blind to bikers - but then bikers often put themselves where they shouldnt be.
