Very nice Policeman
Discussion
Just got pulled on the M3. Thought I'd had it but the nice officer give me a stiff talking to about driving at 85 in busyish traffic. He then asked me why he shouldn't issue me with a ticket. I replied "the only reason I can think off is that I won't do it again Officer". His responce was "Good reply, Sir. This time I'll let you off with a warning. You already pay enough for insurance don't you sir". Then he asked if I already had any points (answer is no) and he said "Lets keep it that way shall we".
We then set off and he got into the outside lane and moved passed me (I was mixed with the slow lane traffic and no easy gap to pull out into).
When I overtook him a little later at 70 he also waved goodbye. To which I responded with a rather sheepish one.
The above is paraphrased slightly.
Very, very nice man.

You mean you left out the bit about hands, knees, road, boots, licked................??![]()
. It was bad enough owning up to slightly bad judgement and not perfect observation. (and before you ask he was in a queue of cars behind me as I joined the motorway which is why I didn't spot him until too late - ie until he had overtaken the car behind me - at which point I was caught in traffic and doing under 70 anyway)

God help you next time you go home late and i'm on nights,
I'll fcuking crucify you.
46 that's disgusting. Are you a closet plumber? I bet you're really a white van man with a desire to wear a uniform. well all I can say it get yourself a job as a janitor mate. Then you can really experience some power.

I don't mind individual traffic plod. They are skilled drivers and in my experience only hand out speeding tickets in conjunction with advice *and* often where there are aggrivating circumstance. They have even been known to be reasonable and let off all toghether. [1]
My problem is the general plod policy of harrasing the motoring public and ignoring all other crime.
And the traffic plod must be equally to blame for that.
[1] I except from this desctiption the m*ron on a bike about 0.00004 feet inside a NSL sign trying get people 20 feet away coming out of the deserted thirty limit into the 60 NSL. Who does that help? I *thought* the bikers were the good ones. I even used to nod to them when on my bike.

What a positive attitude !! most people tend to offer their experience with the BIB. Yes I’m sure that people generally only make mention of the bad ones, but that is generally true of all interactions between people and organisations (whether public or private sector) Personally I’ve not had any good experiences with traffic police but have been on the receiving end of sarcastic comments and the like. Not all BIB are idiots, so I’m hoping to meet an understanding/in touch with reality traffic officer if/when I’m next stopped.
See we don’t all do the slag off the BIB line, give some credit rather than negative comments.
Which is why I'd much rather see real people enforcing the law than machines.
"A bit quick for busy traffic sir - don't do it again" will stick in the mind longer and have a more positive effect than a demand for £60 through the post a week later - usually when you've forgotten where you were......

Amen! [1] Which is why they don't do it. They need bad driving to justify the Cameras and they need a wedge between them and us for reasons best known to themsleves. The educational aspect of trafic enforcement has gone.
If they cared they'd hand out advanced drivng lessons instead of points. Ergo, they don't care.
[1] Except the tw*t on the M3 who told me I was driving perfectly safely as he wrote out the ticket. I was seething about that for days.

Which in turn I have said numerous times before. A lecture at the time of the offense is far more memorable than a letter through the post a week later.
