Can any squeaky types on here advise me as to what R v Abraham 1979 was all about? It is refered to in ACPO guidelines on police driver training which go on to recommend that vehicles should not be taken to more than 90% of their top whack (ACPO expression!).
It is the stated case that is often referred to with respect to use of exemptions for Police driver training. I have a copy, what do you want to know specifically ?I am mugging up on driving regs for a board next week and it is refered to in relation to driver training guidlines on speed. I am just curious as to whom Abraham was and what he did? I have tried Googling it to no avail. As a result of the guidelines that the case produced I guess that he was a police officer who came unstuck whilst travelling at 100%. I have visions of a Rover P6 or similar screaming along at 108mph!

He was a Chief Inspector from a Police driving school who was prosecuted following a crash on a training exercise.vonhosen said:

More specifics about the case please.
I've got to pop out, I'll post it up later. What are you interested in about it ?
It's importance is that it contained a ruling that training qualified as a Police purpose for exemptions.
