Bob the Benches comments gave me a bit of a chuckly so I thought I'd mention a few of my own experiences and invite others to add theirs:
1) I'm Doing 50 in a 50 limit dual carriageway. Pull out to overtake a plog dog van pull back in. Immediate pull. Idiot woman gets out: "Do you know what the speed limit is, Sir", "It's 50mph says I." Rozzerette relaises her mistake and looks fazed but still b*llocks me for *seeming* to go fast.
2) In an NSL SC I come off a roundabout with following police car and give it beans up to 50ish. Immediate pull. "You were doing nearly 80, sir." "I can't have been, apart from anything else I was behind a lorry." "Yes, but the way you were going if the lorry hadn't been there you would have been touching 80."
3) Finally cooincidence rather than plod supidity. A mate got pulled at insane speed on the M5. "Having trouble achieving take of are we, squadron leader?" Mate *was* a Pilot Officer in the RAF... Sadly the plod had last laugh on this one 'cos mate was killed on operational duty...
Ok fire away.
Might be good for the Plod on the site to offer some tales of stupid 'clients' of theirs to give a bit of balance...
;-)

Ive only ever been pulled once, and i deserved it! I was 19 and had just got a 1.6 205GTI - previous car = Fiesta 1.1, so as you can imagine i was noticing a difference in power. Anyway, i decide to put my foot to the floor down a long straight in the centre of town, typical boyracer stylee - next thing i know i get pulled over and Mr Plod says "right, i dont have time to do you right now, but you were driving like a dickhead - dont let me catch you again!" and with that i apologised profusely and off i went! Ive never sped in town since, and am very careful anywhere else that i choose to exceed the speed limit - it taught me a thing or two. Nice copper too.

Community policing at its very best. Probably did more to curb your youthful exuberance than a fixed penalty and 3 points dropping onto your doormat a day or so later would have. Alas, the youth of today only have the latter to look forward to.
I could give you hundreds of examples of to55ers on the road and off of it. Many mildly amusing, some not so, some, well.......
Why should I bother?
Why should I bother posting anything at all?
You all like the good and helpful bits but when reality kicks in, not so much applause is there?

Because many of us value your posts and see you as a valued member of the PH community.

Madcop,
I believe i speak for most of us on the site to say that your views are greatly appreciated (even though we can't always agree with them).
However we are entitled to our views and opinions and these are often clouded by our own experiences from life.
I would think most people on this site are law abiding citizens and are using the site to vent their anger and frustations not on police officers as individuals but at the system in general.
Having been at the recieving end of what could be called police harrassment i know whats its like to be angry at the BIB, but you have helped me overcome this.
Cheers and if you ever in Wendover/Aylesbury give me a shout and i'll buy you a beer. (Or in Bournemouth once Uni starts again in Oct.)

Because you're one of the best informed, most interesting posters here and you're not afraid to have a bit of a verbal ruck which is what makes bulletin boards interesting.
I think this goes for the other rozzers on the site. (Except the girlie one that got hysterical...)
Here's a thought. How about a Madcop + PH Fuzz observed run for interested PHers. You can all offer free advice and training on yuor day off and then buy those who turn up lunch...
...Ok, I'll get my coat.

Indeed - all a fine would have achieved would have been to make me pissed off at the law - as it was i thought he was a fair chap, i deserved to get pulled and i deserved a bollocking. It taught me to get v careful about where i put my toe down as well.
Go on madcop, let us hear some of the things which have really made you cringe/smile (apart from PH postings
).
The one I can remember is a wannabe racer who used to live close by. He got in trouble with the law very frequently and on one night was caught going straight through a red light.
officer: do you know why I pulled you over son?
plonker: no, why?
o: you went straight through a red light, what does a red light mean?
p: stop
o: good, what does an amber light mean?
p: go
o: what? well then what does a green light mean?
p: don't know, I'm always long gone by then!
needless to say his highly intelligent comments didn't help him keep his licence that time

Agree totally. Madcop, you appear to be above the general crap you will always get on any site such as this (no offence Ted). Your posts & responses to the often stupid questions are an education. Keep in touch with us, reply as you feel appropriate and you WILL eventually educate some of the clowns and gain their respect at the same time. Remember many of them have grown up with a distrust of Law & Order through many earlier experiences, watching TV, simply listening to other tossers, etc. Keep a haad, Madcop. (Geordie for maintain your cool head)

I know what you mean - brother and sister-in-law were both police and they can tell a few stories (though strangely there are a few that get passed around. Urban myths some of them - but cracking laugh.
Why should I bother?

Ok, Madcop (and Tonyrec and 46TEE too) - dont be disheartened by some of the posts here. I may have disagreed with you before, Madcop (but not on a point of law or anything) but thats fine - we are entitled to our own views which will obviously differ due to our differing points of perspective. However, I do value yours and the other BiB posts as they balance out what can be seen as a one-sided argument.
As you might be aware, not all of us believe that society is falling and that we are being cheated out of our money, homes and cars. Please continue to post and make the effort - though at the end of the day it is your time and you have the choice....
On a slightly different note, I wonder if Ted is reading this - of late the content and quality of posting to PH has taken a great tumble. We are at risk of loosing some of the most interesting and vocal members of this community due to the excessive right-wing element that just simply wants to attack, complain and generally be utterly miserable. PH was once a vibrant and diverse community - however, its is rapidly becoming a 'slagging board' for those lucky enough to earn considerable money yet want to return to the victorian age.....
Madcop - not sure if you were being serious - but please keep going as your balance brings an amount of sense to all of the madness...
Cheers,
Paul

Madcop,
I thought the whole point of this thread was to share a few of the ones that made you chuckle? It's not a dig at the police at all.
To extend my example above; once
realised his mistake he did a check on my car, had a talk for a bit (perfectly amicable) then we went our seperate ways; No hard feelings. I posted it because I thought it'd raise an eyebrow or two on here, not as a dig at the lad who pulled me over.
Now I think about it, he wasn't a traffic cop, so why should he know the difference between front & rear drive cars?
Most of the time you're on here you're offering us good advice, reciting laws and useful tales of your own. I presumed the idea of this thread was to unwind and have a friendly exchange of fire, instead of us incessently bothering you for information.
Sincerely hope no offence has been caused.
Al.
