My wife was involved in a RTA a couple of weeks ago, which the police attended. Yesterday we received a letter from the police yesterday (RTA 3C) asking for her to produce her license, insurance and MOT, such that they can continue the investigation.

At the time they suggested they would not need these detials as they would be electronically evailable.

Any thoughts on whats likely to be going on and whether we need to do anything in addition to complying with the letter

Thanks

Section 3 of the Road Traffic Act is Careless driving, but I don't know whether the 'RTA3C' relates to what they're investigating or whether it's a code for the type of letter they've sent you?

Online databases may not be altogether up to date and the plod need corroborating evidence that yer missus is all above board and street legal in the documentation department.
They after all did only SUGGEST that the details would not be required as they would be available electronically.
They really ought to have done the job properly at the scene and given yer missus a 'producer' there and then if her documents were not available.
As for "whether we need to do anything in addition to complying with the letter" only you know that. All plod is asking is to see hard copies of her driving docs...if you expect something else to be following on from that then perhaps you'd better get a solicitor in tow....
