Sorry minimac, but Bus Lanes aren't for children to use. They're no more in danger from cars in the lane than they are from buses. Bus lanes are a catastrophic waste of much needed road space. Instrument of death??! Oh jesus...you're one of those then. Do you not have your own "Instrument of Death" you narrow minded fool? I hope, given your own comments above, that you don't drive on normal roads outside schools...heaven forbid you might run over some children yourself. Tw@t.

I'm sure the 'children' around EC1 (did I mention that?) would definitely not come off worse.

scratchchin

Maybe I could tell them, in mitigation, I was trying to avoid a drive-by?

Well I hope so...sarcasm is normally followed by a smiley so we can tell.

If I mis-read that...apologies. There are people that have opinions like that and it makes me want to shake them by the neck.

It has a rolleyes at the bottom.

I'm just waiting for the pavement cameras which fine you £30 for stepping into the road where there isn't a crossing.. Or the red light cameras which nick a pedestrian for crossing when the Red Man is lit, causing cars to brake etc.. etc..

Some bus lanes in these parts do appear to be designed to catch people out - for instance a traffic-light controlled junction where you can turn left - the bus lane ends quite close to the lights where it turns into a filter lane to turn left. There is often a queue, so you are faced with a choice - either use a bit of bus lane to enter the filter lane or stop and end up with a bus blocking you from turning left.

Poor road design at its worst - mind you quite typical for car-hating Nottingham.

Yes mate, but the problem is - the ones who commit proper crimes, like robbery, assault, fly tipping etc etc etc (unlike a made-up offence allowing revenue collecting for councils) usually get away with it. But then that's more your department eh!

Now that's surely worth a yawn!!, because I never lock anyone up for a robbery or an assault.laugh

Also, you're point about it being my department is flawed being as the Police are purely evidence gatherers. If you've got beef about charging decisions, aim it at the CPS not the Police.

I'm sure you'll be telling me how you pay my wages next, so in anticipation...cheers!!.

So you don't arrest people then?

No wonder the system is flawed when we can rely on cameras to prosecute straying into a bus lane but the Police just gather evidence. Your words not mine. Next we will be told the PCSO stand around when people need help - oh, that's another thead.

Yes, of course we arrest people, dont be so stupid. My point is aimed at the 'robbers getting away with it comment'. Its not the Police that decide to let them go, its the CPS who have the say in what they get charged with, or not as the case may be.

How about people just pay attention, follow signage etc and dont stray into a bus lane?....now there's a thought. Oh no, its easier to do it, get caught and then moan about everything and anyone but the person responsible....the driver.

As for PCSO's standing about doing nothing, believe what you want to believe. I was not there so I'll wait for something a bit more accurate than a journo to tell me what happened.

Another problem with the bus lanes in London is that some allow motorbikes, some allow any vehicles at certain times & some are bus & taxi only. Now try exercising 'Roadcraft' whilst trying to negotioate myopic pedestrians, cyclists, black cabs, lack of clearly indicated streets (y'know, like the odd name sign) along with other hazzards, when a bit lost AND checking what the bus lane sign you just passed actually said.

Oh, and get this. The PCN states that an 'operator' witnessed the 'incident' on a digital camera.
