Following on from the pursuit thread - this one's definitely down to the BiBs one way or another.

There seems to be more to this than meets the eye.

Edited to mention.

Why is it in a Scarborough paper?

Nasty. I hope no PH BiB were involved...

Wonder what on earth actually happened?

What an odd story - thoughts to the family of the guy, but to be killed falling off, of his own accord? Seems odd...

A young man died.

He was a Policeman.

One of the 3600 people who die on our roads every year.

There will be an enquiry.

May he rest in peace.

Assume investigation is because he was pursued after a fail to stop and died shortly after. That he was BiB is irrelevant.

I'm not a copper and I am probably completely wrong on this but when I said it seems odd I meant really odd, tell me it was just an accident.

Someone asked what happened, and whilst I don't know, I suspect that the inquest might investigate if the "bolt" instinct could have been causal in this death. If it is, and a police officer (on duty or not) is killed BECAUSE he is pursued, I can see it becoming more difficult for the plod to aquire authorisation to chase suspects at high speed.

Anyhow, it seems fair that they shouldn't pursue at high speed, after all it is they that are a significant backer of the speed kills mantra.

First I have heard of this Bolt instinct?
Me too...unless the person concerned is a criminal, in which case it's their own problem what happens to them!

...we're still at the stage in this country where if you ARE law-abiding then you've nothing to fear from the BiB (well, 99.99% of the time).

Anyone who runs from the Police are chased. Thats how it is.
He knew it, so the reason he ran must have been a big 'un.
Possibly out of his area, I don't know, maybe he didn't want to be caught with his stash, who can tell ?
There must have been a good reason to run, and not getting caught doing something he shouldn't was the answer.
Motoring offence? don't think so, we all know there are cameras everywhere, and his movement retrospectively inspected on the harddrive.
Was he being chased by a fast Police car ? If not he may have thought he had the talent to get away.
Unfortunately for him he didn't.
Condolensces to his family, but nothing was worth this.

It looks like a report came in of a motorcyclist falling off his bike, when the police attend the biker has gone but they see a similar looking bike so they try to stop it to ask questions, It's no big deal at this point but he does a runner, why?.
Then the bike is seen on fire and the alledged rider is in the bushes, maybe the first fall injured him more than he thought and the second incident was some one trying to distroy evidence as to who was riding the bike.
Was he chasing somebody or was somebody chasing him, a biker got shot the other week.
