A big thankyou to to the police officers in the van that tugged me on the orpington bypass this evening, after observing me driving a touch too fast and amber gambling.

Great guys, they even warned me of increased traffic patrols on the road for future reference.

Anybody else got experiences of proper police officers using discression

Yep, rightly got pulled for using my mobile, stupid I know. Admitted the offence and took the £30 fine with good humour. The BiB then noticed I had semi slicks on the car and proceeded to check the tread depths. The fronts were both illegal. He gave me a ticking off but let me off what could have been 6 points and £120.

I assured him I'd change them the next day which I did. Top bloke.

But the big questions are will you change the way you drive and for how long?

Or are you just glad that you didn't get a ticket?

Not meant in a sarcastic way.

Nothing better than having real police. Should be more of them and their discretion

And not because your driving was endangering other road users? Shame you just got the (ineffective) rollocking then.

If you would only alter your behaviour after prosecution and not after a friendly warning, then you are wholly unsuitable for receiving the warning in the first place.

So, after a friendly thankyou...the poor guy receives a tirade of self-righteousness....good stuff! LOL

not having a go for what your chosen chariot is but it would have been a completly different story had you been driving somthing "flash"

somthing that was built for speed and could corner/stop/accelerate out of trouble easier.

strange but true.

I was warned for speeding about 6 months ago and to be honest it has changed my driving.

I got a 'little' to enthusiastic on a dual without realising the BIB were a couple of cars behind me and I got a well deserved rollocking when they caught up with me! the only reason I did not get a ticket was that as soon as I entered into a 40 I slowed right down to the limit (before I was aware they were behind me) that was the only reason they did not take my licence that evening.

Have I speed since, yes, have I taken the p'ss like I did that night, no, In my case the talking to had a lasting effect, I should have lost my licence that night and I've never forgotten that.

I wouldn't view the OPs admitted transgressions any differently if he were driving a fezza/porker etc.

Much the same number as those who cop for 60 squid and 3 points I'd guess; your point is? AFAICT limit enforcement makes bugger all difference to the way people drive, until they reach 9 points, and then they understandably start driving like robots, probably causing significantly more danger than they did before.
