Got home from work to find a police 'business card' on my doorstep with a PC's name and the local Police Station number on it. Ring the number to speak to said officer and he explains that he would like to come and speak to me about my driving!?!

Anyone here got any experience of this, and what did it lead to - points, fine, or slap on the wrist? I presume hes not coming to congratulate me on my style of driving!

To be honest if you did somthing wrong and they are going to "educate" you for it they have my full support!

If you didnt do anything wrong then its a good opportuinity to find out what new anal scheme they are dreaming up now!

Tis better than a nip and you might find out it was somthing that you were not even aware that you did!

I wish you luck anyway

Being so close to Snowdonia, and with the weather being the way it is, its just too tempting to take the TVR out and allow it to make some noise! Dont condone speeding in any way, just take some North Wales A & B roads quicker than others might......

Bet the RTA photo scrapbook hits the coffee table before you've got time to ask how many knobs he wants in his coffee

Nah i cant believe that! Speed kills and im sure you must have sped in those 4000 miles a month so like me you are a mass murderer the likes of which mankind has never seen
[/off]

Serously tho, it probably is a nosy neighbor or somthing. If it was a speeding or dangerous driving thing im sure they would have stopped you at the time. More likely its doris and henry down the road who signed up for the civilian speed trap service months ago and are waiting for their turn

Had a similar thing happen to me a while ago.

It turned out that someone had complained to them (police) about me using an unadopted road in my Landy. The long and the short of it was that they were suggesting that I cease doing so, but that there was nothing they could do to stop me.

I think it likely that someone may have complained about something you have done (while driving) that has caused them offence, but which isn't an offence.

Unlikely to result in any sort of penalty, but it might pay you to make the right noises, sound reasonable etc, regardless of what you subsequently do?

Watch out for a scam, it has been known that calling cards have been left, which are NOT true police cards the individuals then have access to your house.
If I were you I would contact the local police and offer to meet them at the station. If your driving was so bad you would be pulled more times than Jordan.

Similiar thing happened to me too.

Only difference on my card was that it had my registration number on the card too.

I called the PC, and had a nice cconversation with him. Turns out my driving had 'offended' someone, so much so they made a complaint about it.

However - it turned out the incident happened a month after I had sold the car to my local Ford dealer.

I don't think you've anything to worry about.
I bet you live in the sticks and this will be the local homebeat trying to appease a local resident.
At the end of the day, if someone has made an allegation of careless driving, or similar against you, it is unlikely, unless it WAS horrendous that there will be more than one independent witness, so it;s your word against theirs. That said, the officer still has to hear both sides before he loses interest and shreds all the paperwork hoping no-one will notice.

Probably a telling off. Admit nothing. If they had enough to charge you, they would. They clearly don't.
