Went through a gatso that was set to 30mph(!) situated on a DUAL carriageway!!!! on the a80 near glasgow doing 40 cos i couldn see any indication of a 30 limit (it was 2 in morning which didn help). Can they really do that? : put a 30mph limit and f----ng camera on a DUAL CARRIAGEWAY!! in a not particularly built up area with no advisory signs!!!??? I was flashed doing exactly 40 (as recorded on recieved ticket), as i assumed that that would be a more than ok speed to pass the camera (obsiously not) but i can't belive they can be so devious with the limit and siting of bloody gatsos?!! This is clearly a revenue raiser and not a safety camera! I'm fighting this one all the way!! I'l go to court in glasgow if i have to!! (live in norwich) any advice, legal loophole, etc to help my chances?????? would be really appreciated, thank you and cheers

What's a 30mph camera?!

No such thing, mate. They're set to whatever speed the road is graded as.

If it was a 30 limit and you did 40 then you're going to have to pay up!

do you have a link on google maps to the area or some pics? im sure they normally have to show speed limit signs before the camera so go down and check. for more info go to peipoo.com to ensure they have met all their requirements before pleading guilty.

Same around here. There are several fixed cameras on 30mph dual and three lane carriageways - with barriers AND in non-residential areas..

If it was a 30mph restricted road with a system of street-lighting not more than 200 yards apart, then the normal speed limit repeater signs are not permitted.

As above, go to http://forums.pepipoo.com and give them as much information as you possibly can.

And there is nothing remotely reasonable about the current regime, so forget about anything like that. They play dirty and try to get people on technicalities. You must fight fire with fire, which is totally justified morally and legally.

The system relies on people caving in easily, so well done for not doing so. Keep going and good luck. You have the vast majority of PHers behind you.
