STATIC CAMERAS ARE THE BEST

I read with interest the questions posed by Mr X regarding the effect of speed cameras in reducing death and inijury and the raising of revenue for the police.
The short answer is no to the former and yes to the latter. I must emphasise that my opinion relates solely to mobile cameras and not the static variety as I believe they are very effective at reducing speed. Surely if it is considered that a particular area is an accident blackspot, or for example near schools, why not erect a static camera which must be cheaper to maintain and would release the occupant of the mobile van for a more useful and effective occupation like patrolling the streets.

I have to agree with the author if there is such a need for these vans why not erect a static camera ( I am sure that will stop the speeders) or do the mobile vans, ahem, make more money.
