Speeding Skoda vrs
Discussion
On my way to work this morning i was following a black undercover Skoda vrs, then 2 cars infront of that was a rather basic mondeo, when the 2 cars between the skoda and the mondeo turned off, and we came to a straight both proceeded upto about 90mph with the skoda right on the bumper of the mondeo, eventualy making the skoda brake hard as they came to a sharpish corner. i was in disbelief to what the police officer was doing.. but anyway we eventualy got to some traffic lights and the mondeo turned off, and i followed the skoda onto the dual carriageway were he then rose upto around 100mph, i went upto a reasonable speed below that and followed untill my turning. i thought this was rather weird as he seemed to have no regard for his speed. And i know he wasn't going to a job because he didn't have his lights flashing and he eventualy turned off into a bp petrol station.
Dont know if other people notice this behaviour from undercover cops!

he was speeding, and we aren't allowed to do that
But he is. And?greenBo**ox said:

How do you know he wasn't responding to a call and was told to stand down ?Even if he wasn't responding, is it really such a big deal ?

i fail to see your point
He was tailgating another car for no reason other than to goad them into going faster. I have seen and experienced this numerous times with unmarked cars.SS2. said:

If he got caught, would he be punished the same as the general public? - Doubtful.

Could also have been training.Dont know if other people notice this behaviour from undercover cops!
I recently went out in an unmarked vectra for a training drive so what you saw as tailgating could have been moving to an overtake position as per roadcraft.
Training you are exempt from national speed limits while the instructor says so.
And as others have stated, no need for blues when exceeding the speed limit.
well we were following mid speed traffic for awhile, he only sped up when the mondeo slightly increased speed after the traffic cleared, then he almost quite litrally lept on to the rear bumper as if he was egging it on upto highish speed but didn't attempt to overtake. this was untill the mondeo turned off then he slowed down abit and eventually sped away again on the dual carriageway.
I just found it weird and dangerous how they can flout the law when they're meant to inforce and set example!
and forgive me for not conforming to your ridgid grammer scrutenering, i thought this was a car related forum.

Could he have been looking for the view for an overtake?
Could you see any safe overtaking positions from where you were?
This does sound like a training drive.
Like it or not, we are permitted to exceed speed limts if it would hinder the purpose of the vehicle.
it was a long straight but he didn't seem to move to a position that would suggest he was going to overtake considering the other side of the road was clear for a distance, and yes it was a nsl road.
so if it was a training drive you wouldn't pull over someone? beacause the mondeo was doing over 60 by a fair bit.

No we wouldnt because its training, for example we followed a vehicle to around 100 mph but if we stopped and dealt with everyone exceeding the limits the amount of time we would spend training would be too low.so if it was a training drive you wouldn't pull over someone? beacause the mondeo was doing over 60 by a fair bit.
