Finally had my LRC100 jammer (linked to Road Angel) tested on Friday evening by a chap who acquired one of the laser guns the police use (LTI20-20?).

First off he described how the gun works, demonstrated the features and explained the error codes. It appears one of the major plus points for the LRC100 is that it doesn't trigger the jamming alarm on any of the guns.

We ran a series of tests with him targetting different parts of the vehicle at various distances. In my case (Chimaera, LRC100 mounted centrally above the number plate) I'm completely protected from around 300ft+. Below this, a reading could be taken where the gun was aimed at the furthest corners (around the headlights).

Thoroughly reccommend anyone with a jammer to give this guy a call - best to make sure its working before your targeted by a real gun for the first time.

Chaps name is Richard (laser.test@btopenworld.com), based near Reading. Charges £40 for the tests and I believe he'll travel upto 100 miles for an extra £20.
(checked he was ok with name/number being posted)

good news mark.

I have a road angel but no laser jamer. Did you find the RA warning of mobile laser before he actualy targeted you ?
What I mean is, is teh road angel going to tell me that laser radiation is being targeted at cars in front giving time to slow down. Or will it only be as I have been hit?

err hope that made sense

300ft is quite a distance, do you think you could spot the gun from that distance? If so then I may look into it some more. I am trying to work out how far 300ft is in my head.

300 ft in your head would be very coiled-up. Imagine a plate of sphagetti in your head (2 adult portions).

I didnt think I would dignify this thread with a response however after drilling 3 holes in my head I thought I would let you guys know that 300ft in one head is impossible, and yes I even tried blending them

The LRC100 plugs in to the socket that would be used by the RA detector so I've never used it. Having seen how the gun works I'd say you've got bugger all chance of getting sufficient warning from a detector to avoid being caught.

Its pretty close to be honest, you'd usually be targetted from further away.

Using a handheld gun, the copper is pretty much guarenteed to aim for the number plate at first - its much easier to target and less likely to cause an error. This would be jammed and I'd be alerted to slow down. Copper might try a couple more times or eventually try and target a different point on the car. In theory, I'd then be travelling at the speed limit and would have turned the jammer off.
