Hello,

Sorry to ask this, but I have been trawling through the government regulations on this for hours and Im making little progress.. frown

basically got several PCNs outside my house in the residents parking area.

I have dug up this

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2002/023113bk.gif

and this

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2002/02311354.gif

which cover the road markings and the signs (turns out the road markings are no good on one side of the road but legal on the side I got the tickets... bugger)

however, the signs are only present on one side of the road, does this mean the side without signs is "illegal" ?

Cheers

DP

I don't know if that will work. If the line was 300 instead of 600 then you may have a case but for the line to be 300 thicker i think won't invalidate it.

after all its even more visible.

but i hope to be proven wrong..smile

Some lines have minimum and maximum lengths, some have fixed lengths. If it's the latter type then there's a basis for appeal for not meeting the regulations. If it's the former and the maximum length is exceeded, there may be a stronger case - Streaky

I got a ticket on a one way street, where the sign on the OPPOSITE side of the street indicated parking was allowed, 40 Metres FURTHER down the street (on my side) the sign indicated NO parking for non-residents at the time. Now to make matters clear, I would have had to drive past the parking space to read the sign, then travel around the one-way system for 10 minutes to get back to the space!

Now maybe I should have known that signs only apply to the side of the street they are on, but to be fair - a residential area with bays the full length of each side...I can't see why they would be different for parking times?

Appealed and drew the pictures on the appeals form, eventually (after recieving umpteen "warnings&quotwink rang and complained that they never acknowledged my appeal, then they told me to await my court appearance and they have no record of the appeal, then nothing.....that was 6 months ago smile

Useless shower of eejits.

Definitely worth appealing - the stats are good for appeals where ther is a modicum of "grey" in the statute/reality of the situation!

cheers streaky, its the former, in the diagrams it show 300-600mm as the "prescribed" length, its 900mm long.
