You know its about this time when everyone starts blaming the police and the courts etc etc etc.
but I don't care. I blame the police for everything now.
I was called as a witness to a crime once years ago . .took a day off work and when I got to court the case had been dropped.
The police have known for years that the cps and courts have been crap but instead of their top brass getting a grip of the situation and telling the cps to go out on the streets with the muggers etc they just let it happen and shrugged their shoulders crying its not our fault.
It doesn't wash anymore. Just seen all the crap on watchdog tonight about all the cases where the police let the public down.
They are part of the system so equally responsible for crap like this.
but if you said 'Paki' they would jump on you from a great height.
I am not racist as it happens I detest everyone from white chav car thieves to pakistani terrorist camp trainers and every group of nee'r do wells inbetween regardless of wether they are nicking the slates off my roof or cloning my credit card. scum are scum in any colour.
It really is time now that justice started to be seen to be done.
But when the police stand by and watch people drown what chance have we.
I have myself personaly caught thieves and been recommended specially by the police for bravery awards.

I know what you mean. It appalling. The police agree here. Pee cee idiots
They really do make a mockery . They insult GREAT Britain .. what SHE stood for und was RESPECTED for most in the world.
her scales of JUSTICE
SO what that England did not win against South Africa. That team epitomised the GREAT in Britain even if they lost to a - let's face it - they were destined to win this time.
In my mind .. Lewis Hamilton was the WORLD CHAMP F1 driver. He held it for the entire season. He's young. There was so much pressure und had he not had the gear box/engine mis-haps this boy would have won hands down. Lewis made a rooky start which already place him amongst the true greats. He will WIN next year. He will DOMINATE the sport for many years .. such ist the talent here.
It off topic .. sort of.
But what I try to say ist that lots of things make Britain just GREAT. Pee cee muesli munching really undermine the sense of JUSTICE und FAIR PLAY which underpin this und which displayed by truly lovely SPORTY men this weekend.
But this GREAT get undermined by self important farts who think they must make allowances.
On the other hand .. another get banged up indefinitely. I suspect his threat to kill the Queen might have had much to do with this though .. along with his schizophrenia.

That's sickening. WTF is wrong with them? Maybe treatment is better than a custodial sentance, but stringing the miserable coward up would be a lot better still. And coward is the word because he was chased off after the event by "two school children."
A coward with a serious mental illness but don't let that affect your judgement.Zeeky said:

Two school children knew to chase this prick, and none of the adults did anything ?
Disgraceful. As is the sentence.
Maybe the kids weren't old enough to have become completely disillusioned with the legal system, and didn't have the thought running through the backs of their minds that if they laid so much as a finger on the scrote, they'd be the ones ending up in the dock?Disgraceful. As is the sentence.
or
Maybe the kids were sufficiently streetwise to realise that, being kids, the legal system wouldn't come after them even if they ended up giving the scrote a bit more of a right old kicking than would be legally acceptable?
or
Maybe this is just a sad reflection of society today, where scum are allowed to get away with murder (literally and figuratively) because the average person in the street is now too damn scared to do anything in case the scum is carrying more than just a pair of fists or steel toecaps and has no inhibitions about using whatever is their weapon of choice?
Put it this way, I've never been in a scenario like that, so I don't know how I *would* react, but I can say with complete certainty that I don't think I *could* get involved, not if it wasn't my life or the life of someone close to me at risk. As much as the humanitarian side of my nature would want to do something to protect another innocent from harm, and as much as I'd have little difficulty in turning a blind eye if someone else took it on themselves to kick seven shades of something or other out of the scrote, the self-preservation side of my nature would probably be screaming at me to just stay out of it, not to draw the attackers attention to myself, not to put my own safety at risk...

A coward with a serious mental illness but don't let that affect your judgement. My point is that it is irrational to apply the same moral judgment to someone who suffers from a serious mental illness than someone who doesn't.
We don't know the extent to which his illness affects him and more importantly the part it played in this violent act. In my view, if this part was insignificant then he should be punished in the same way as anyone else. If it is overwhelming then punishment is probably meaningless and treatment in a secure hospital is more appropriate.
Getting angry, abusive and wanting to be violent towards him might make people feel better but fortunately that's not how sentencing works in this country.
There is an interesting thread on here about what is an acceptable level of road deaths. What is more culpable? Killing someone by not paying attention whilst driving or attacking someone because of a mental illness you have no control over?
If road deaths are an inevitable part of driving is it not equally possible that violence is an inevitable part of some mental illness?

I won'tIt's a serious mental illness which, if it drove him to this crime, makes him unsafe to have walking around in public.
Before anyone criticises the police over this one, I saw the police officer being interviewed on the news. He was not happy, I suspect if he wasn't being filmed that he would have been a lot more forceful.
If this guy needs treatment, fair enough he should get treatment. But he has demonstrated that he is a danger to others, so that treatment should be in a secure environment.
As fair as the behaviour of the kids is concerned, good on them. Gives me some faith that at least some of the "youth of today" still have a good solid understanding of right and wrong, and the moral fibre to stand up and be counted.

I'd probably not shed a tear if he killed you but what we personally think of each other and the extent to which we value each other's lives isn't important in the grand scheme of things.
Love you, too!I'd be quite happy with indefinite secure mental facilities, but life in prison or killing him would both be just as effective. To do, essentially, nothing is ridiculous. He is simply going to do this again.
Hoping it is you...

Or, since it happened in Croydon, more likely the kids were just trying to mug him anyway or

It's not only a matter of being more culpable, but a matter of preventing it happening again. There is no way someone who directs that degree of violence towards anyone who poses them no threat, should be allowed to walk free and do it again.Zeeky said:

Maybe, but then you don't let them out on the streets in the first place if that is likely, and certainly not in the second place.Zeeky said:
So treatment (indefinite if necessary)in a secure mental hospital would be appropriate then? Why the desire to kill someone who is mentally ill?
Arguable anyone who kills except in self defence is suffering from some sort of mental illness. I believe in the death penalty, ironically as a libertarian, because I don't presume to know what does and what should drive people to their actions. Rather I believe when those actions cross a certain threshold where they have proven themselves to be dangerous to others then they become literally an out law. They do not have the capacity to operate within a system of law and so can not reasonably expect it's protection. With actual diagnosed mental illness there maybe an explanation, but not an excuse. If this is so then he should be treated in such a way that he can not pose any danger to others during his treatment.
