New fixed cameras in Dorset
Discussion
Don't know if this has been posted or if it has any relevance to anyone here but Poole (Dorset) have put up 9 new cameras within the last few weeks see below
"ANOTHER batch of shiny, bright yellow speed cameras have sprung up in Poole.
Two have been placed within a mile of each other on the same stretch of road in Parkstone.
While the main route through Canford Heath estate has also been chosen for a new Gatso speed camera, which cost an average of £12,000 each.
A further camera has been erected at Fleetsbridge and one more is waiting to be installed on Blandford Road, in Hamworthy, once work on the lifting bridge is completed bringing the town's quota to nine.
The cameras have been sited at places known to have a high level of accidents, according to Pat Garrett of the Dorset Safety Camera Project.
On one of the main routes between Bournemouth and Poole two cameras are now poised to catch any motorists breaking the 30mph limit along Bournemouth Road and Castle Hill in Parkstone.
And another peers down on Adastral Road in Canford Heath where a resident told the Echo a tree branch partially hiding the new camera close to The Pilot pub was sawn down overnight by an unknown person."

Knowing the clientele at The Fighter Pilot (as I'm sure it used to be known) I'm surprised it was just the branch that was sawn down.
Poole's turned into shitehole these days anyway (except the bit where Bob the Planner lives of course). Just another reason not to go there. Plenty of Gatso free roads west of Wareham, as Denny rightly points out.
When I got home (ie Mums home in Dorset) last Friday she was engaged in a full-on PH-style rant about speed cameras, which lasted about half an hour, and included several words unfit for a family website. She's 70 in September.
I wonder if speed cameras will start to have an economic effect on tourism.
I know I feel less inclined to bother going on holiday to certain parts of Scotland these days.
After all. If you read comments here and on other Fora that an area has a high concentration of 'em you'll simply go somewhere else so that you can have a more relaxing drive. As EVEN IF YOU DON'T INTEND TO BREAK THE SPEED LIMIT I include them in the list of hazards I must be extremely vigilant near because of the bizarre driving behaviour you get around them...

Definitely, unless you're from outside the UK and don't care about UK speed traps. For the same reason that we go to mainland Europe for a good summer thrashin'.
There is talk of revenue raisers going on the A35 at askerswell on the dual carriageway , this might be mainly down the the fcukwits who still go 70-90 in thick fog on bad days and then hit cars pulling out from litton cheney turning
If thishappens i will be getting friendly with the local tyre center for old tyre for when i go to do errmmm .........................
