"Project Rudeboy" legalities
Discussion
For those of you who dont know, this is the impending "Project RudeBoy" - www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=45414&f=23&h=0
Just want to check with those in the legal know...
We are going to be making the car look utterly stupid, and apart from looking utterly stupid is there anything illegal with blacking out the (side) windows with crisp packets, puttting in a "sprite" NoS bottle, sticking a ice cream "ram scoop" on the front and some foglights (torches - cheap ones) on the car?
We will be doing this in a mcdonalds car park or other public car park. Would these mods invalidate the insurance as they add so much HP to the cars performance...

Did see a Nissan Micra in Sunny Southall the other day with thin spoke alloys. The owner had welded a brake disc to the inside of each of the rear wheels, A nice touch I thought.
I would say that so long as you can see out of the side windows, and that your mods don't do anything to adversly affect the handling of the car, then you should be ok.
Please also understand that the old bill will also piss themselves when they realise that you are taking the piss out of the maxpower juniors, and therefore shouldn't give you a hard time.

Serious answer to the question on allowable tint.
Max tint allowed 75% light transmission windscreen
70% front side windows.
now what about that Corsa I saw where the rear light lenses were so tinted you could hardly see brake & indicator lights, never mind position lights.
What do these jokers have for brains?

Well there's requirements on the tint level for windows so I'm not sure how 'tinitng' the crisp packets would go down. 35% max tint I think.
Well it all depends on what flavour crisp packets you used - Beef and onion may well be illegal, but I think you'll be safe enough with Chicken flavour or indeed Prawn Cocktail...

I suggest you talk to your insurers and tell them what you are doing, any changes to the car need to be informed to them or your insurance may well be invalid.
Love to hear the response to the question "What effect would tinting my windows with crisp packets have on my insurance?"
Expect they'd think you were taking the piss.....
