Just seen a bunch of twats parked up on narrow busy b road on the ridgemont bridge over the M1 southbound carrigae way. They had a setup of 3 individual scameras pointing at 3 south bound lanes. I am not sure if the roadworks currently stretch that far south and have not checked but it does not change the fact they are parked in a stupid position. Its on a narrowing bend where cars regularly do 80+ in opposite directions, this little distraction could prove to be fatal. I have informed the Police by phone and the woman said she would speak to the people who can sort it out! (whatever girlfreind) I said that it is not the Police that are there. She said we control all scamera operations from higher up. So its not true that the cops have nothing to do with this stuff?!

I would like to point out that they were sat inside their van (with a coffee no doubt) whilst operating the cameras, well i wouldnt want to stand there either.

If they have to do this shit why not go and stand on one of the other bridges in the area that gives access to farmers to cross from one of their feilds to another. Probrably cause the farmer would prob take a gun to them if they even asked.

Or alternatively, jump of the bridge head first and do the world a favour!

It was probably a ANPR system scanning number plates and checking for tax details!

I had considered this to be possible but it is still parked dangerousley and could cause an accident as it could cause someone to believe it is enforcing speed.

I have just come down the M1 and saw all those cameras and wondered what it was about. Well on the assumption that it was south of Junction 14 I think. Hopefully I was within the speed limit!

On the way up I saw the Van which appeared to have very few markings on it, was parked on the far right of the bridge as I went northbound. Certainly I could see no sign of any Camera warnings, and I think it had yelloe lights on the roof (typical of a mobile camera).

On the way back down there were three cameras, one over each lane, and they looked like TV cameras as they had wet weather hoods on. An operator appeared to be adjusting the middle camera.

The van was were I had seen it earlier, and again I could see no markings on it.

I actually decided that they were TV cameras set up to provide background footage due to the tories committement to raise the speed limit, or DoT cameras measuring traffic flow.

I'd be interested if anyone else can provide more information otherwise I'll have to wait 15 or so days!

Mind you suppose there have been some accidents on that stretch of motorway recently. Presumably not connected with the roadworks though!

They do seem to have plastic hoods on them. BTW i have seen them again and they are independent cameras attached to a box on the floor. And the van has left them setup and disappeared somewhere else. there was a red car parked on the verge only. Someone should arrange outlaw to come up from luton for an inspection
