Came intop work this morning on the R1 and after passing umpteen motorists who were trying to kill me (notably a Subaru Impreza reg. no. RE02WVW who deserves to be shot for the way he was driving - idiot), I got stopped at the top of the Earls Court road at a Police checkpoint.

Hadn't done anything wrong and lots of bikes (in fact, every one that passed it seems) were also stopped.

Only thing amiss was my tinted visor, but given that I have to travel 'into' the sun on the way in and 'into' it again on my way home, I consider it safer to use it than not. I carry a spare clear one too!

Anyway, what was the point of all this? Well, a nice man from the DVLA checked my tax disc and my reg. plate to make sure everything was in order (which of course, it was). With a "Thanks very much for stopping" I was on my way again.

So a big hand to the BiB and the DVLA for their courteous approach. I hope you get the thieving scum and road tax dodgers that we're all supporting

PS. I didn't have time to ask if I could be a special 'Black Rat' Constable

I was stopped there too, for all of 30 seconds. In their defense, I did ask if they were stopping cars as well, and he said at least as many as the bikes, and pointed at a van, a car and a bike all of which had fraudulent tax disks. The BiB have said in the past how useful a stop is in assessing the driver and discreetly checking if they're wanted etc so I would say it was a job well done.

Does your R1 have a plate bolt missing and a wonky plate? If so I was on the green Speed Triple behind you at the time

I do Isleworth-Mayfair every day so I'm a little familiar with the A4. The best bit of the day is finding the Piccadilly Underpass clear

Whereabouts are you?

So you take the same approach to road courtesy as you do to moderating then!
