Coming down the A43 past Silverstone on Saturday and slowed down for the speed camera just after the Silverstone turn off........then noticed a flash in my mirror. The camera is a forward facing one (blue with dayglow square) but after I passed it I think there may have been a second camera.
Does anyone know this stretch.....or what the penalty may be for doing 80-85?

Its a truvelo forward facing. Read about it Here You wouldnt see a flash from behind as it faces you as you drive towards it. As far as I know, there are no other cameras close to the ones you mentioned. You may have seen a red flash driving towards the camera, this would more likely mean that you have been caught.

You may be below the trigger speed if your speedo was reading 80, it depends what the camera is set at and how accurate your speedo is. If you have been caught expect £60 tax and 3 points for the pleasure. The a43 is such a dangerous 70mph duel carriageway although, there are plenty of warning signs going towards the m40, if your heading towards northants, they are lacking.

I definetly slowed down for the forward facing one but do you know if their is a second camera just after it as you go down the hill? I was going to go back for a second look but as you say, that is such a dangerous stretch of road I did'nt want to risk driving it again!!!

That would be the one by the Green Man pub. It confuses me as to why that is still there. Before the A43 was widened, that camera was on a very short stretch of dual-carriageway and there were some pretty dangerous maneuvers there (some of them by me ). But now the stretch of road is just part of a long dual carriageway. So the "safety camera" should have been removed, right?

There aren't any other cameras near there. However, there is another one on the opposite side of the road - perhaps you saw that one flash?

Just been chatting to Mungo as he knows that stretch pretty well, looks like I'm safe. If not Mungo can pay the bill
