"Almost 600k is to be spent on new measures to improve
safety for drivers and pedestrians on roads across Tendring over the next 3 years. A list of schemes for the rural areas had been drawn up for this year costing £115,716 and there is a similar set of projects in urban areas, with a bill of
£82,834. The same amount of cash is expected to be available for further work in 2004/5 and 2005/6.
three speed reduction schemes are to be carried out in
Thorpe, Two in little clacton, one in St Osyth,
Thorrington, Great Bentley, Bradfield, Ramsey, Lawford
and Ardleigh. A new mini roundabout costing £15,000 has been lined up for burrsville in clacton, another costing £22,000 in Holland and Kirbyward, as well as other facilities at Bocking Elm. In rural areas, £48,000 is to be spent on speed reduction measures."

And all totally needless IMHO. But it keeps people in jobs, makes life slower and more difficult for everyone and helps to keep Coucncil Tax around £1,000/year. £22K for a poxy mini-roundabout? I could go and paint a circle in the road for £10!

If anyone wants to have a go, contact the perpetrators, Essex County Council North East Area Office, at tops.neoffice@esssexcc.gov.uk

surely it would pay for them to retarmac all the badly potholed roads before fcuking up the flow of traffic , ive lost count of the roads ive been down that have had the crappy red tarmac thrown on them but are in a poor state of repair . surely driving down a road that causes your suspension to work overtime is going to increase your braking distance therefore increasing the risk of an accident ? fcuking morons

Tossers!
That area used to be quite good for a blat, now it's a virtually blanket 40MPH zone, don't see how they could make it much bloody slower!

Can I advise all Essex PHers to contact their council/people responsible and voice their concern as vocally as possible.

Around our way (Hants) they can find the fcuking money to create misery with road humps and won't resurface a badly pot-holed local road.

If they're going to try to make your lives a misery...well..it would be rude not to return the compliment..

I got a bit pistonheaded last year. Sefton council (Southport) made a complete fcup of a busy x roads near to my house.

It was absolute madness. Where two cars could q side by side, 1 lane for left, 1 lane for right, they reduced it for one.

Then they started to do similair works on the other side of the x roads, which had a wider approach to the main road, therefore wasn't so much of a pigs ear.

I was so annoyed I rang the council and got thru to the complete plonker in charge. He told me it had all passed planning dah de dah, fob, fob, fob.

I asked what his qualifications were. He'd been to Uni. Stunning. (Bear in mind the head of highways in the Council can't drive!!!!) I asked him if he could drive, and if he did, what year was his reliant robin.

He didn't seem to pleased and got a bit defensive, and suggested we finish the call.

I then spoke to the workmen who were actually on site and asked them what was going on.

They told me that they had been instructed to start work ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE JUNCTION BY MISTAKE!!!
The tosser from the council came down and said, 'Oh well, you might as well finish it off before you start on the proper side. He'd apparently got the road names transposed on the plans.

I went to the local rag, blew him up, got a feature ect.

The dickheads still ruining roads in the area. Bet he didn't get a warning from his boss for blowing £80k of taxpayers money, and also causing a stress point for drivers.
Mike Shumacher would kill for some of the starts people have done to get out of the junction!

34mph - 3 points, cos speedings dangerous.

Build a dangerous junction - well done son, thats slowed traffic down!
