I was always told, 'prevention is better than detection'.......oh how times have changed.
Hi Tony, it's when I read posts like that, that I realise I shouldn't get angry with some of your other posts. Sorry if I have done, eg Fish-in-a-barrel, but the situation is making me a bit crazeeee. We've got good drivers banned just for going too fast, and bad drivers on the roads who never speed. And the ironic thing is, the lower speed limits are for *them* in the first place. Anyway, sorry again if I sound ratty sometimes.

Statistics aren't they wonderful things. Those figures about reductions in accidents all depend on various factors they don't give us. Perhaps the North Wales Safety Partnership should tell us what the accident record has been for each of the last 10 years and when the cameras where first used. They could also advise over what length of road the figures apply. After all as far as we know the start figures they use might have taken a year when casulty figures were much higher than usual.
Until "Saftety" Partnerships are open with their figures, and don't appear to rely on spin a significant number of people will ontinue to doubt them.
Its a big difficult to complain about unmarked cars after all there has always been the risk of being caught by unmarked cars. Which does make me wonder whether before camers where intrioduced the Police had reduced the number of speed traps due to having targets to meet elsewhere.
At least this latest scheme by North Wales appears to be aimed at the dangerous or reckless driver/rider but we will see if that remains the case.
Isn't it part of human nature to want to take risks?
