Been sent NIP for allegedly doing this speed.

If I take it on the chin what will I get, totally clean license for 8 years (since started driving), no accidents, claims or convictions.

Also what is my insurance cost likely to increase to(currently 780 fully comp a year).

Do I go the NIP non-signing route? I assume you send back the NIP signed and they'll tell you the points and fine you're going to get. If you don't sign the NIP it drags on and you eventually go to court, don't give evidence and pray the NIP gets thrown out as inadmissable evidence.
Is stage 1 best to get photographic evidence, if anything I think it's from a mobile camera van from the front of the car, if they can identify me from the picture I assume I'm screwed.

Help please thanks.

Bad luck. Can't give any advise other than to say that I'm currently waiting to hear back from a letter I sent requesting the photo showing me to be the driver for my 100mph NIP.
I think that anything over 100mph means they'll want you to go to court anyway....

great so a ban is no the cards. No mitigating circumstances either, I don't need the car for work thank god.

don't mind a ban, I'll take the car off the road and sort the engine bay and detailing for shows, switch the dash.

Gonna hurt my insurance though for sure.

Also what are the fines like?

Bad luck David,

How were you caught? Scamera van?

You could get a good lawyer or just take it on the chin. I would guess a £200 ish fine, have a look in the Speeding archives on this website for an idea of what to expect

thanks for the advice, I've already had a bit of a read. Mobile Thames Valley Camera Van on the M40 near to LOndon, I was heading northbound, usual situation no traffic early Sunday morning, sunny and dry.

Sorry to have to tell you this but 104 in a 70 is a "straight to court, go directly to court, do not pass go, do collect a brief".

I got done last year for 81 in a 50, signed the NIP got the letter with the court date soon after. (Offence March, court date September".

Take a brief, get them to highlight the clean license, never done this sort of thing before, totally out of character and cross your fingers that the magistrate is in a good mood. Try and get letters from work stating you use the car, could affect work if you get banned, that sort of thing, and make sure you look smart. You wouldn't believe the amount of "scrotes" who turn up in jeans and t-shirts........
Of the 8 cases on the day of mine, I was the only one who didn't get banned..........6 points on an SP30 which doesn't affect insurance and £150.......

Good luck anyway

Usual crap then!
Did you spot it or was the NIP the first you knew? They seem to like hiding up sliproads so you cant see them

I see how it goes, if I get banned I get banned, it's ok I'm a professional upstanding member of society. I know what appearing in court means.

Yes I spotted it from about 1/2 a mile away and was breaking like buggery, was going much faster than that initially, so in some ways I'm lucky. I'm very vigilant when driving.

Update for you.

I decided to take it like a man, filled in NIP, signed form, sent back recorded delivery.

Yesterday evening received letter back, offered 3 points and £60 fine if I go on a speet awareness course.

I'm damn lucky I think. 3 points for over 100mph is very lucky.

thanks for all your help and advice people.

Given the car I drive I was wondering if I could still afford the insurance if I'd got a ban.

3 points should be nothing to the insurance co. though, so fingers crossed next year won't see a huge rise in my insurance bill.

I'm feeling a lucky lucky man currently.

That's a very good deal mate - take it and run - trust me courts are not places you want to end up in.

Presumably an option for that speed is to not name the driver and take 3 points and a fine? Didn't someone say that this wouldn't load your premium either?

Sounds a very good deal to me, especially as you were making slightly more "rapid" progress before they clocked you.

Next time stick to doing that speed outside a school or summat as they never seem to stick scamera vans anywhere near them

Just don't take the pi55 on the course or your "fail" and be back to square one

a very good result though

I always thought 30+ from the limit was an auto-ban!

Lucky lad!
