OK, need some help here.

Last night on the way home I go through an industrial estate. The estate serves heathrow and so there is lots of heavy traffic which doesn't look where it's going, especially when pulling out of industrial units hence a 30 limit.

In a layby there was a dark green unmarked van (no high vis stripes on the back). One of the back windows in the transit was down with a camera coming out of the back. Also there were two bike cops and a marked up patrol car pulling people over in the area.

Question is what where they doing, ANPR checking? or just issuing NIP's?

I did spot it but not until I was probably doing 35 or so. I'd be gutted to get done at a smidge over 30 when people normally shoot through here at 40-50ish. As I wasn't pulled over id the consensus that I'm in the clear?

The latest APNR van linked to computer database for road tax, insurance, diqualified drivers, criminal intelligence but not speeding. That's what the one does round our way anyway.

Cheers for that, I hoped ANPR when I spotted the bike cops and marked car. Fortunately I'm too law abiding (read tax paying idiot) for my own good, so fully taxed and insured.

I think the Herts. Police have an ANPR camera in a dark blue smallish people mover with a luggage carrier pod on the roof. The luggage pod has a blackish plastic panel at the back. This vehicle was parked on the A600 into Hitchin a few evenings back with two police cars about half a mile further down the road outside a school and with 4 officers in attendance.
It's a pity they can't be outside schools catching drug dealers at school leaving time, but I guess that wouldn't bring in enough cash!

It would if they sold the drugs on!

But then again they'd have to get out of the van.. nah it'd never happen.

I've got no problem with them nabbing the scumbags who aren't insured.

So if I ever got a ban, does that mean Mrs Biker will get pulled up driving one of our 3 cars?

This ANPR stuff is getting on my pecs. OH look, isn't it clever? b*ll*cks is it. It's another step to big brother and totalitarian state control regardless of how many scrotes it catches, it will be used for sinister purposes at some point, and you will not be safe doing anything while President Blair is in charge.

Yes but on the other hand scrotes driving round uninsured are costing every honest driver £40 a year on their insurance. More power to them I say. What I don't like is the revenue raising scamera vans and Gatsos. We have one of these insurance/banned driver vans in our area but it's hardly ever out because it doesn't raise easy dosh.
