Anyone here this programme on Radio 4 this afternoon? Talked for the last 15 minutes or so about the police, and how the public want "Dixon of Dock Green" type policing.

Yupp...they show it to every trainee to demonstrate the need to:
1. Never confront anyone whom you don't know, especially after dark.
2. Never challenge anyone who looks remotely threatening i.e. bigger than you, better armed than you or is of a different sex, or if there's more than 1.
3. Always patrol in groups of at least 2 and stay in the station until you have a partner.
4. Always wear all of your supplied personal safety gear, carry all your weapons and always, always be prepared to run like fcuk at the earliest opportunity.
5. On the other hand all jump in a car, go buy a burger and/or donuts, persecute motorists at the expense of all else....
