Was reading the Beds on Sunday earlier this morning, about some old singer guy who was famous for his bad records in the 70s...

Anyway, so last week he got caught speeding over at sandy, doing 60mph in a 50 limit. Which was probably some dual carriagway or whatever, but he got a summons for whatever reason.

Fined £155, £55 costs, and a months ban

His insurance is gonna go way up cos of the ban, that's just faintly ridiculous for such a trivial offence! This whole camera thing is ridiculous - I spend more time watching the verge for vans and cameras than I do watching the traffic around me it seems - especially on roads I don't know.

If it's the cameras that I know of, the road is dual carriageway, with a fair amount of development alongside the road, a blind rise, junctions, etc. The cameras have been there at least 3 years. 10mph over the limit does seem a bit harsh though.

There is a newish (1 year) 60mph & camera restriction south of Sandy on the A1M.

The fact that he had to pay costs means that it looks like he was dealt with in court. Normally 60 in a 50 would get a FPN, but as it went to court it makes me think that he might have been up to 9 points already.
