Am I likely to land myself in any cr@p with the DVLA for not sending of my V5 form when I obtained a new vehicle.

Just realised and it's been 6 months!!

You wont land yourself in the crap if you send it away now...before you get stopped by Police etc.

I've got one for my GTi, and the previous owner didn't sign it (which according to the V5 is an offence in itself).

How do I go about getting it in my name, do I simply fill in the change of ownership details, send it off and leave his part unsigned or do I have to get a different form (V4?) to signify change of ownership?

Dont worry CB, Just fill in your bit, DVLA Wont complain, they will whip it through the computer.
Your in the clear in anycase as it is the sellers responsibility to sign, not yours nowadays.

They send the previous owner a form (V712 ?) asking for confirmation, IIRC ?
Slightly different bits of V5 to fill in also, dependent on which of the 3 forms it is.

Nice one, well I'll get it popped in the red van to swansea asap, the car's due to rejoin the black stuff soon and it's slightly more conspicuous now than how it left so I'll have to make sure it's 100% legit!
