A friend of a friend has just heard he has had the charge of failing to disclose the driver dropped.

The NIP and follow up letters were never delivered. So, almost six months later he received a prosecution for failure to disclose the driver.

Initially he pleaded guilty as he was told that proof of postage was sufficient for the prosecution. Then he remembered over six months later that a neighbour had officially reported her post going missing with the Post Office. A reference to this complaint was sent as the reason for pleading not guilty.

He has just heard that the case has been dropped due to lack of evidence.

Reason given: Quote "The decision to discontinue this charge has been taken because there is insufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction"

Seems to infer that they were not confident that the proof of posting would hold up against the documented proof of problems with the post to a neighbours (same postcode) address for the same period.

Strange that they attempt to take the proof of post as secure evidence of delivery when 12 million letters go missing each year.
