Wednesday
Twisty village road, 30mph, centre white lines etc.
4 cars paked nose to tail on the opposite side of the road. I drive as far to the left as possible, get level with 3rd parked car on the right. Idiot comes round the bend, crosses to my side of the road, (because of parked cars), drives into the side of my car (I didn't have anywhere to go), drives off round the next bend.

Parked in the village Thursday, of course he didn't drive that route that day did he.

Parked in the village this morning (Friday), got his registration number.

Is there anything I can do about it, no witnesses.

Yes, go to the Police Station and report it if you havent already.

If you havent reported it then try to remember the exact positions of the cars...basically as much info about the scene as possible.

I take it from your post that he didnt stop?

Im a great believer that these things should be reported at the time- strike while the iron is hot, it makes life a lot easier.

Either way, dont let him/her get away with it, next time it could be a kiddie.

Report it to the Police, he left the scene of an accident.

Your car has damage and his car will have corresponding damage and probably some of your paint on his car...

He didn't stop.

With no witnesses, isn't it his word against mine, e.g. 'I wasn't in the village on that day guv'.

OK I get the idea, report it.

My car is damaged, I've taken photos of car, got an estimate from a bodyshop, but have now polished off as much (third party) red paint as possible. But, there is still damage, and one alloy wheel will have to be replaced.

Ok, I'm on my way to the local police shop.

It is possible to match paint etc to a specific car as no two are exactly alike - oxidants, fading etc.

It might not be cheap, but just the threat of getting this done along with the fact that the cost of this will end up as theirs , will sometimes 'persuade' the other party to admit their guilt.
