Advice from BiB
Discussion
Wonder if any of the BiB could offer some advice?
Often when driving on a Motorway and for some reason on bestest behaviour I find my speed creeping up gradually (sometimes not so gradually).
How do trafpol manage to avoid this and sit just less then the limit all day despite being in a car that would hardly get out of bed for this speed?
Its probably me, no doubt I have some affliction that would horrify the anti-speed brigade, or it could be I was taught to drive by an ex-trafpol who believed in using the engine to its fullest to get up to the limit asap if not sooner!

The ideal speed for a Motorway Trafpol to sit at is around 56mph.
Its quite difficult to stay at this speed but it allows the public to overtake at a reasonable speed and therefore not cause bunching etc.
A few times though ive been engrossed in conversation and have been poodling along at around 70mph....after a few miles you look in the mirror and its like the start of a Grandprix. All you can see is lights and cars all forming orderly queues behind.
I do find it annoying though when im off duty and at the top of the M1 or M6 and the traffic is all bunching up only to see a Trafpol car meandering along at the speed limit, this makes me and probably yourselves angry.
Besides, when youre driving slow then you get an Emercall then you really feel the speed increase.

Perhaps its just me! 30 mph I can do almost spot on no probs 70 erm sorry officer!
Seriously my driving instructor took the view accidents were more likely at roundabouts and when pulling away therefore make it as short as possible!
Hence his micra was caned (probably his his cop car!) I think his favourite phrase was more revs, more revs dont change up yet its not at the redline!
Perhaps I just listened too hard!

So Tonyrec, ever get the urge to pull people over when you're in your own car?
As with most people, whilst going to and from work i often see the worst things and im sorely tempted.
A few months ago, whilst on my way home i saw a car full of youths break into a car with a sledgehammer and steal what i later found out to be a computer from the car. I couldnt resist following in my own car for what seemed like ages but in reality was about 10mins, informing the Police who finally stopped and nicked all concerned........dont make a habit of that though but on this occasion it had to be done.
Only last week whilst driving to night duty on the A1 someone obviously took offence at my car/driving style and had a bit of road rage with me.....i was trying to get through on my phone but couldnt and after a mile or so the arse*ole turned off and disappeared. As soon as i got to work i did a PNC check on the car which turned out to be a LOS.....still, you cant win them all.
