Got pulled recently, got the yellow form to prove it. Now sods law I just got reinsured, about a month earlier. Performance Marque, very cheap but useless - realised now why I stopped using them.
Anyway they sent my cover note to the wrong address (where I lived 5 years ago, even though it had my correct address on the cover note), fortunately they faxed me a copy. Or so I thought.
When I took it into the copshop, they wouldn't accept the fax. So phoned the insurance company, who sent a new cover note but this time dated from when I rang, not from when I got reinsured.
Took the new one down to the copshop, and this time she said she couldn't accept it because it didn't have the date of nicking on, though it did have 'continuation of previous cover note' written on.
Anyway I asked her what I could do, and she told me not to worry - as long as I could eventually prove that I was insured when pulled, the 7 day period didn't matter that much and that I should take the docs down whenever I got them.
If you have ever had anything to do with Performance Marque this can be 3 months or more.
How do I stand? What offence have I committed by not producing in the 7 days, even though I am covered (and the money taken from my account)

You should be OK - just keep in touch with the police station and get the document to them as soon as is practical. The local cops are usually fairly pragmatic about these so long as you dont take the p*ss

The Court has no power to disqualify for this offence or put penalty points on a driver’s licence.
