caught speeding in a temp 50mph zone
Discussion
I've recently been caught doing 61mph on the A46 (normally a 60mph zone). I can remember the day they said I was speeding and the mobile speed camera was parked (I reckon illegally) behind one of those temporary concrete barriers to protect workmen. The temporary speed signs say 50mph. Also I was in a company car that is used for engineering purposes and the speedo is dodgy at best. Anyone know of a loop hole or 2 to escape (another) 3 points on my license???
why? the fact remains you were speeding!
The signs said 50, you did 61, why should you be able to 'get off'?
Although there is a big battle at the moment in teesside that is because of the scamera signs being balck instead of yellow which aren't approved by whichever department, so lots of tickets are being contested...

I think I should be able to contest it as the van that caught me was parked illegally. Surely I've more leverage with that than a sign being painted the wrong colour.
I was doing 61 in a temporary 50 zone and I'm pretty sure the spot I was caught at was just as the road changes from 60 to 50. Obviously as soon as I realised the van was there I slowed to 50 but was confident I'd slowed down in time.

There's been plenty of threads on here with escapes:
1) Don't sign the NIP
2) Get someone else to fill out the NIP, but don't sign
3) Say you don't know who was driving and ask for evidence so you can identify - if there's no clear pic of the driver, there's not much evidence.
4) Check the speed limit signs were correctly signed - check www.abd.org.uk and www.safespeed.co.uk for help.
The van was probably parked with an exemption - you'll need to check with the relevant authorities.
If it was illegally parked you may be able to escape on a technicality - regardless, you can severely embarrass the police force by going to the press.
In future - don't speed in a temporary 50, that's a surefire way to say goodbye to your license before Christmas (or end of August in North Wales/Northants)
Disclaimer - I am not legally trained, if you follow any advice, it's your problem!

The safespeed link doesn't work (at least at time of this posting). [Updated] Ah ha, it should be www.safespeed.org.uk - Streaky

As it is registerd to the company, say you dont know who was driving.
