Been thinking about the A40 Talivan thread and PHers complaining that the signs are always there.
Can any of the experts provide info on this?

Government guidelines now state that camera warning signs cannot be placed unless cameras are present.

Talivans must be sited within these signed areas. However, if there isn't a Talivan around, shouldn't the signs be removed?

For instance, the now infamous Vastern Rd van in Reading is a good few miles from the nearest camera. There are warning signs however....

However, Will Crash's site on the A40 has a few Gatsos for company!!

The important word here is "GUIDELINES".

Translation: "we can do what the hell we like"
